Well, I made one of these already. And here's another. (Think the original got pruned!)

Where do I start. Constant arguing. It seems to me people purposely seek out my posts jjust to argue with me, and then, the mods/admins come down on me for arguing, doesn't matter who's right and wrong. Its bad for business, yeah, I get that. Fine.

A lot of the times, people start arguments with me when I try to offer help. Wtf? Like in recent threads on torrenting and abusing your phones internet connection through tethering. I explain why that is a bad idea, offering help, and I still get an argument. Wtf?

So, am I arrogant? Probably.

Am I rude? Sometimes.

Am I right? Id say at least 95% of the time.

Am I opinionated? Definitely.

Am I helpful? Quite a bit, actually.

So one way, or another, I may be leaving this forum, and it will have little impact on the long term. I know that, mods know that, and so do the admins.

So why am I making this thread? Because I feel like it. Somehow I feel ill be leaving voluntarily, or involuntarily. So, just wanted to say either way, I've enjoyed my time on here, and there are other forums who actually appreciate my help, regardless of percieved tones or slight rudeness when thwarting the fanboi's. I don't want to go, I like this place, but let's face it. I've been banned already, and have received god knows how many infractions just by trying to help.

I always wonder why people make 'I'm going to leave' threads rather than just leaving. I think every forum I've been a member of people have done that.

To the point, I think it's important to remember that people from all walks of life visit these (and other forums) so it's important to take anything read with a pinch of salt. Text messaging is a classic case of people getting the wrong idea. Using text only is very hard to get your emotions across and so something that was perhaps meant tongue in cheek is often taken the wrong way.

On the flip side it's important to think before you click post, could my message possibly be taken the wrong way, might someone find it offensive when all I'm trying to do is make a point.

Bottom line is, if something offends you don't get into a big debate about it on a forum, it's just not worth it and will only leave you feeling agitated. Just brush it off, smile and move on to the next thread. Sometime it's better to just not reply at all.

With regards to you leaving IOWA you'll be surly missed as I know you have been a great resource to many. Why not just try to stick to the tech support and friendly chats and avoid the heated debates? Save them for the pub on Friday night, when you can read the other persons facial expressions.

Prunage, its a mod form of pwnage, lulz... :D

There is no such arguing, I dont know what the **** you think you are talking about or who you think you are that people would actually search out your posts just to argue with you and why is it such a bad thing for me to route my xbox 360 to my phone via tether? All I wanted to do was download the new Halo Reach Beta and play some deathmatches online, what is the ****ing big deal?!? And please dont respond with some lame *** argument, you know youre just gonna get in trouble.

So, am I arrogant? Probably.

thats pretty opinionated of you to say so...

Am I opinionated? Definitely.

see, I told you it was opinionated...

Am I helpful? Quite a bit, actually.

Haha, most of the time I love your posts, and for the people that couldnt tell, sarcasm, satire, a spoof, those are pretty much the terms I would use to describe my useless meanderings above.

Iowa, let me know where you plan on going, your posts are always at the very least amusing and entertaining to read. ;)

Iowa, your admission of arrogance along with rudeness is good honesty.

But it is also a confession of sorts as to your willingness to push the envelope on the user guidelines and zero tolerance policy here.

The arrogance would not do that, so much as intentional, repeated rudeness with members and/or staffers, as you well know.

But I hear you, brother; I've had to reign myself in a time or three, and I dare say I try to take a long breath after composing some posts before pressing that "submit" button, and even then I go back and edit once in a while, and I don't mean just for spelling and grammar. ;)

Can you do that?

I think you should try to stay, amigo, you've got knowledge and personality.. stay here, and do the things that foster longevity here, if you can.

Oh gee you found it. What's with the eyeroll bud? why does it seem like you have some sort of vendetta against people like me? I mean, yeah numus was way of out line with his two comments, I agree there. And I wouldn't say that to someone unless they really, really, really deserved it. And I would probably report the offending post first. I don't know man. I really don't know. It feels like sometimes your not the trident you used to be before your upgrade here on af. But maybe I'm wrong. Being staff on a few forums myself, and my overall experience with forums in general, as silly as it sounds, the "mod" title just tends to change some people.

And yeah, this thread and reasons for leaving are unrelated. That post was made during the iTroll epidemic and the forum was understaffed. Phases and shivers couldn't handle everything ya know! But it seems they have rectified that situation by bring a load more mods/guides on to help out, which was needed.

Don't let the "power" get to you man. In the words of uncle ben, with great power, comes great responsibility.

@IOWA i think you should get a pass when you have more posts than the moderator..lol
I think alot of folks here could find something they didn't approve of of what you say in your post but you have to take the bad with the good and i see that you have given good info plenty of times, you make this forum interesting and entertaining but whatever the out come just keep being you.

I don't intend to change my personality for this forum, or anyone. I'm from chicago, and that's how I was raised. But I don't have a problem with following the rules to the best of my abilities, either. Rules are set into place for a reason, and I respect that.

Don't want to start a debate, but

Yes you do. ;)

.. terrible analogy. :p

If you want to start a revolution here at the forums by breaking the rules, you're going to have to come up with two things (at the least): 1. a case for how repressed and suffering you and most importantly, the population at large are, and 2. an army of the majority of that population who agree with you and who are willing to take action.

Methinks we all need to follow the rules. If we don't like the rules, it appears the rule makers here are accessible and willing to talk about various grievances. But breaking the rules .. well, we're all over the age of six in here. ;)

I do believe this forum is speaking your mind, and that's exactly what I'm doing. If you don't like, don't reply with childish name calling.

And hakr, if you read it all instead of picking and choosing, you'd see I was refering to my big ass mouth getting me in trouble rather than leaving voluntarily. Sort of a thanks to everyone here if I don't get to say it due to unforeseen circumstances.

and to the people who say "who cares?"

Ermm, well obviously you do. Other wise you wouldn't have taken the time to post in this thread, or even view it for that matter.
