Hi all,

Having a bit of an issue trying to set up my wife's new VZW LG Ally. It runs Android 2.1 for those that don't know. I am trying to get it to sync with an Exchange accout. It works fine for email and contacts but won't sync at all with the Exchange Calendar. It says "sync error - sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." This message never goes away unless I turn off syncing the exchange calendar. Everthing else seems to sync fine regardless of this message.

I have tried to remove syncing the google calendar with no luck. I know I can use Tounchdown since I am using it on my hacked TP2 Android with the same exchange server, but really wan't to use the stock stuff. It seems like it should be an 'easy' fix since I am not having problems syncing contacts or emails. Thanks for any help.

BTW - this is with an exchange 2003 SP2 server.

I am having the same issue. I have opened an incident with Verizon and was escalated to LG support. It was escalated again, within thier team and I am waiting for a call back. Did you get this resolved.

LG has now stated that they officially do not support calendar sync on this phone (even though Verizon's web site has directions on how to configure this). We will be requesting that they swap our phones for HTC Incredibles, which we have been able to get this to work on.

You can also try Roadsync by Dataviz. It's more simplistic than Touchdown, but it is also half the cost ($10). Give the trial version a shot.
Touchdown works fine. It is not the cost ($20), but rather having to support a paid for app on over 20 phones. These phones get traded around regularly as they break and employees come and go. Having to manage a premium app adds support expense. Is the app attached to the user or the phone? When the phone gets a hard reset, how do you recover the app? At the end of the day, it is much easier if Activesync is fully supported natively, which it is on the Incredible (we have tested this). I am switching all but two users to the Incredible.

Lots of posts about this problem. This solution is only about calendar sync. I've had the problem for several months: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly." I suspect there are many causes leading some to default their phones back to factory settings. Ugh!

On your computer, go to your Google Calendar. Go to Settings (the gear icon) and make sure you allow invitations to be automatically accepted. Fixed it for me.
