Since 2.1 horked my contacts...

I've seen several contact apps out on the market on in forums that claim to make your contacts easier, more organized, etc. Does anybody use any of these apps and are they worth it? I'm just sick of my contacts not syncing correctly with FB profiles and crashing when I try to open certain contacts. All be it, this will just be a temporary fix until my Incredible comes in.... but I'm giving my wife my Eris, so I'd like it to work to save me the aggrevation

PEOPLE does the job fine. Backup the Contacts on PC, import them to Google Contacts and do a factory reset on the Eris. Once google logs in all contacts will be back. And FB sync will once again work like it did.

I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario I eff up my contacts for a month til my phone comes in.

I've factory reset my Eris several times and Google contacts sync perfectly every time (note I've never had "phone" contacts, only Google).

Also, I find its far easier to use my laptop to add/edit contacts via my google account (changes usually sync with my phone in a few minutes, though you can manually initiate the sync from the phone).

When I got my Eris the rep synced my numbers from my old Phone which made all my contacts Phone. So Exporting them out and importing to Google switch them all to Google. I prefer using the Google contacts, and find its updates instantly.

Smart move.

I think being unaware of this is where most folks get screwed -- unless you fully understand the difference between "phone" and "google" contacts, you are unlikely to export/import phone contacts to google.

Verizon does a poor job of making the phone vs google distinction, in store, when they transfer contacts from an old to new phone.

I do use Google contacts through gMail to manage all of my contacts. Gives me piece of mind that if my phone ever bricks, I have everything I really care about backed up. I could care less about my apps, those are easy to get back. My Google contacts DO sync, but they won't like with their respective FB profiles, at least not all of them. So last night I did a hard reset with the v3 leak and started over. Thought maybe it was just a fluke. But no, contacts are still not right. They don't crash as much which is good, but the FB pictures don't sync. The pictures are really all I care about. I don't care about status updates and everything.

I talked to 2 different Verizon store guys the other day who had Eris' and said they had all the same exact problems I am having, give or take. That's why I'm searching high and low for an Incredible. I can deal with my Eris for the next month or so if I have to, but I'd prefer not to.

I forgot to add this. I also removed all Facebook connections for Eris phone through Facebook Applications page, you can do this before or after factory reset (well before you add facebook account). Yeah, tried that too. Been dealing with this issue since the v3 leak came out. I tried everything I could find on here and XDA before I resorted to hard resetting. So far, the reset seems to have fixed the issue for the most part. That is I haven't run into the problem again yet, but it's only been 2 days. The past 2 days have been spent getting my phone and apps back the way I want them. So much so my wife was yelling at me to put down my phone all night yesterday. I guess she just doesn't understand the epic proportions of my UI analism
