Waiver question

Hello people,

I installed CM5.0.7 on my Magic last Tuesday. What a difference it makes!

As I feared Rogers cut my data plan Wednesday night. I called a tech rep who did a network reset. Data was back... until Tuesday, when it was cut off again.

I called another tech rep, to whom I explained my situation. He directed me to the Rogers Waiver Web page. I tried to fill it while he waited on the phone, but the page did not accept my IMEI number. I kept getting an error.
The rep offered to fill the waiver for me, and send the info to the second tier techs, who would take care of it. He told me it usually takes 24-48 hours to give me back my data, and not bother me again.

This afternoon, my data was still not back, so I called Rogers again. The rep I spoke to told me that I an escalated request like mine takes 3 to 7 days!

Did he tell me the thruth? Does it really take that long?

That is quite unacceptable. I was willing to wait one or two days, but not a whole week. The rep also added that because the iPad just came out, it would probably be 7 days.

Has anyone else experience problems like mine?

Thanks in advance

No need to go back through the whole guide again. You should be able to just flash the Dream radio and Rogers will leave you alone. Having said that, you might want to wait for confirmation from one of the more experienced rooters around here, I might be wrong.

That's correct, Just flash the the updated Dream Radio and then call up and ask tech support for a network refresh. Once the refresh is complete you'll be good to go.

Maybe, but I have been flagged in the system. It is written in my file that I an waiting for acceptance of my waiver. I don't think they will do a reset for me.

I asked the guy who filled the waiver to reset the system, and he wouldn't do it. He said he could get in much trouble because they are not supposed to do resets anymore, and a flag is raised each time someone does a reset.

I don't know if it's possible....

Updating the radio only will not require a reset of my phone, will it?

Thanks for all you help.

Just tell the guy on the other end that you're going to be using a spare phone until you get the waiver filled out and you want to be able to use the data that you're paying for. Tell him that if the doesn't give you a network refresh that you want to be credited for this months data.

Ok, I installed the radio, and got a rep to do a reset for me. He had to ask his supervisor, and the supervisor did it.

I told him that I would be using my HTC Touch until this mess has been cleared up.

He told me that I will probably lose my data again at the next system scan, even if I change my phone because the system will notice that I am not supposed to have data.

Can I assume it's BS?

Just in case, I put my sim card in my Tough. I thought I would keep it there until about 10:00 tonight. The scan has usually been performed at this time.

Thanks again for everyone's help!

If you have flashed the Dream 3.22.26.17 radio onto your Magic then you can just put your SIM card back into the Magic. Once Rogers detects the E911 radio you shouldn't be bothered by data cuts again.

I've found this to be the first community I've ever been involved in that consistently moves faster and more efficiently than the company. Usually it seems in these types of People vs. The Man scenarios, "The Man" eventually wins just due to more resources in R&D.

That just doesn't seem to be the case anymore. With so many developers all collaborating from around the world for the single goal of keeping these phones open, as they were intended to be, "The Man" doesn't seem to have a fighting chance anymore.
