Are there any apps that utilize the multi colored trackball?

Saw this discussed somewhere in the Forum guys......I don't the trackball is multi-coloured, but just different flash routines.

Not sure if is true & doesn't make the "multi coloured trackball" quote make sense, if this is what the phone was sold as?!?

Would like to know for definite myself

Long story short. The new sdk cut off access to previously accessible parts of hardware. No one seems to know if this is intentionally done or an oversight.
All the apps that used to access these features no longer can. The trakball itself is capable of a ton of different colors.
Why they would include that hardware then cut users and development off to it is baffling.

it is definitely capable of blue since it flashes blue when a call comes in and a bluetooth headset is attached. On the G1, the cyanogenmod made it flash blue for missed calls, green for text, etc, that is what I was hoping for with the N1. I imagine as soon as a good cyanogenmod comes out for N1, I will use it. Cyanogen extended the life of my G1, and allowed me to hold out and skip the droid.

not sure about a ton of different colors, but the specs do say tri colored trackball. so i am assuming that means it has 3 colors.

A tricolor led just has rgb components. The software can set these components to varying intensities to achieve any color in the spectrum. Currently the hardware is restricting 3rd party software access to changing the intensities.

So, can I just get this straight... devs no longer have access to trackball colour as of Android 2.x? So apps that once worked no longer if the phone has been upgraded? If so, it's not a Nexus only problem.

So there's two possible conclusions:

1) Someone messed up with the API and accidentally made it so the trackball colours can't be changed (likely)
2) The Big G are going to release their own trackball customisation within their own apps.

With the open source nature of Android, it makes no sense that they'd cut off access on purpose. I reckon they're compiling a list of software problems (I'd be surprised if they could see the bottom of it ;)) that they're in the process of fixing and will release it all in an update, instead of trickling them out slowly one by one. Maybe.

ohh.. got it you mean in market. BTW.. I want to make a demo app which just glow trackball with selected colors. Just a demo app. But cannot find a way to do it..I've write code to glow LED with different color. But some document says that screen also need to be off. But I am not able to off the screen. :(

Noti led already does that, its in the market.
tap the sleep button and screen goes off, have a look at that app.
