Hi Everyone,

I am new to the android community and all that is android.

I had a question about certain features on the Android OS.

I am excited about the HTC Evo!

I am coming from the iPhone 3gs. I wanted to know if there are any limitations to copy & paste on Android.

I heard that it only works for the browser. Is this true?

Can one copy and paste images/gifs that you receive via email or sms?

Can one Copy & paste in emails and sms?

About SMS, can one send a message to a group of people in one shot? Or does one have to send the same message over and over again to individual people?

Thanks in advance
:)

Thank you for the fast reply and the welcome; I really appreciate it :)

I can't wait for this phone! Friday, Woohoo! :D

Either can I. I didn't even notice the copy and paste stuff till you asked it and I tried it out on my hero. I never have noticed or needed it though. I do know that copy and paste will work in other apps like color note and quick office.

Wow, it's ironic how much people bashed on the iPhone for not having copy and paste, but they clearly out did Andriod as I can copy and paste just about everything on my iPhone. This is a bummer.

Whats the bummer? In the stock mail app you can copy and paste all you want. You can paste into SMS and into GMail and you can copy and paste in all other apps. It just copying from SMS and from a GMail that you can't do it. Trust me I have been using android sense January and have an Ipod Touch...you wont even know it doesn't work, I didn't even know till I tested it tonight.

I also voice my disapproval :(

The Palm Pre had great global-level copy and pasting, and in many ways, it's supposed to be less mature than Android.

Sometimes if I had a long text to send someone, I would draft it on my computer in GMail, save the draft, load it onto my phone's email, and then copy/paste it into the SMS Texting app. Guess I can't do this anymore.

No one is going to disagree with you that Web OS rocks! but the hardware was lacking, even though the palm pre plus is much better than the original.

That's all well and good for you, but I have copied and pasted from email and SMS on my iPhone many times. I think there is a good chance I won't be using the stock SMS app

I can copy and paste everywhere with my iPhone 3G. If I get an MMS and I want to keep the picture just select it and then copy it. I use this all the time. Kinda bummed this does not apply to Android. But, I guess it's not a deal breaker.

Hmm on Android you can long press a picture and choose to Save it. Not sure if it's the same as copying for your needs

I copied and pasted an SMS last night on my Android-enabled Touch Pro (I got impatient for my Evo and had to put EVO on my TP for it's last week of life). I WAS using that other SMS program, with the bubbles. Oh hell what is it called? Y'all know what I'm talking about. BTW, dual booting Android on a TP KIILLLSSSSS battery. It lasted like 3 hours on me today, on standby!! lol I recharged it and went back to WM for the rest of the day.
