Not sure if anyone has noticed or if its just my phone.Im running the OTA2.1 rooted with the Aloysius Rom(has happened with other roms also) and it seems like every app that i have installed through Astro Manager doesnt show/update in the market.is anyone else having this problem whether your phone is stock or rooted? any help/ideas would be helpful

Normally I wouldn't use Astro to install an application, unless it was a non-market application. In that case I don't think it would show up in the Market downloads list.

Yeah its pretty well documented in the forums that any apps installed with an astro backup will not update in the market. The only programs that seem to work in this regard is Titanium backup and an app that is being developed by jamez ( I think thats his name) over at XDA. There is no way to do it without root. These programs only work with root, which you have if you are running Aloysius, but you have to have had them installed and save a backup through them before wiping. The benefit to using astro is that you at least have an accounting of what was installed so you can go through the market and reinstall from there, comparing to your astro backups. It also allows you a way to install some apps that dont show up in market after installing custom roms since market cant recognize your rom as an authorized install. There is a fix for this out there. Just search for "market fix". Finally the other way to retain pretty much all your apps between roms is a2sd (apps 2 sd card). This way you can go from a2sd enabled rom to another a2sd rom and it will auto sense your installed apps since they are all still technically installed on the sd card in a system ext3 or 4 partition. This way market does recognize them all and gives updates right away.

you say they have to be backed up before the wipe, well i still have most the orginal APKs when i d/led them off filesharing.would the market find them and update those if i was to install those? and if so what app should i use to install with?

Ok. didn't understand that the apks. were from file sharing. If they are free on the market then they have to be installed from the market first and if they are paid apps that you installed filesharing apps for then they wont register with market for updates or to show you have them installed because you didn't pay for them. I am not one to preach against filesharing since I enjoy my movies/tv shows from there also but the apps are so cheap in most cases I just buy them. Your original apk's should still install with astro but they will not show up in market ever until they are legit no matter what program you use. Titanium backup will reinstall all your apps after a wipe and they will show up in market but not if they weren't legit in the first place. BTW most people on these forums will shut you down "figuratively" pretty quickly when discussing filesharing apps as a lot of devs are in these forums looking for ideas and feedback on their apps.

kk thanks for the input.....i prolly will just go ahead and pay for them.but ive learn the hard way about buying something before trying it and getting screwed over in the process.and if they feel they have to shut me down for simply saying what i said and not actually saying what i have is simply on them, but if it comes down to that then i will just simply move on,but again no offense towards you and thank you for all the input.

Seriously dude? You are downloading market apps of a file sharing website? Can't swing the $1.99 for an app. That's pathetic, those $.99 apps and $1.99 apps are probably developed by people just like the people on this forum that are helping you. Those apps are what make Android better, having anyone who has the time and will to make apps to serve the needs of people less technically inclined. You should support developers, without them you'd have about 0 apps on the market or in file sharing.

yet again im not going to just pay for something(no matter the price) with out trying it first.....I mean seriously would you be stupid enough to buy a car with out test driving it or checking it out?? so dont sit here and trash talk me about not being able to afford a 1.99.each have there own veiw on how they do things.if you wanna pay for something you know nothing about then thats on you and odds are you will be screwed in life soon enough.ive already had my time and i have learned from it.so if you just wanna trash talk keep you damn comments to yourself.

Hey EK. One comment to the market app issue. One of the good things about Android Market that a lot of people aren't aware of is the fact that you can buy almost any app, try it out even if it doesn't have a "trial" version and as long as you uninstall it within the grace period your account is instantly refunded. I believe that is currently 24 hrs. Many believe (as I do) that 24 hrs is not enough time to properly evaluate some apps and are pushing to make that 48-72 hrs, but regardless it does allow you to try practically any app risk free.

Not trash talking you at all, I just think you are cheating the very people that make you enjoy your phone. Also, most paid apps have a trial version that you can download first to determine if it's worth paying for. Secondly, all paid apps do have the 24 hour window where you can uninstall them and get a refund if you aren't happy. Aside from all that, what you are doing is illegal, and it will eventually catch up with you.
