Accessories Carrying options for Evo while running/jogging/exercising.

No problem. I have an armband now for my nano but I think I want the same set up as you for the EVO - where it just clips to the waistband. However, I'm tired of the headphone cords - so another accessory I'd like good reviews on are a decent pair of bluetooth wireless headphones. Again this is a good thread and I'm glad there are others who can chime in on using the EVO as a workout partner
I would go with the Motorola S9. I know a lot of people have problem with it. If you sweat a lot, I wouldn't recommend it. If you don't sweat that much (especially around the head), these are great. My first set lasted me a year and half. I'm on my second one now. As someone who has a pony-tail, I hate corded headset with a passion.

I bought this case from Radio Shack for $25, and it fits the EVO perfectly, and unlike what the review of that case listed from Amazon above, I have no problems getting it in or out, and the magnets hold the flap pretty securely (no accidental ejections yet).

As for headphones while running, I have a cheap pair of Samsungs I got for ~$30 at BestBuy a while back (SPH-500, IIRC). That way, when my sweat kills 'em in a year or so I won't "sweat" :) buying another set.

I am admittedly NOT a runner, but the EVO and a running app inspired me to give it a try. I turned on the GPS, the FM radio, and fired up the running app for my first one mile run. Completed in 10:54 secs...not too shabby for a first timer I don't think. It was a bit bulky in the armband...i may actually take the case off next time or just stretch the pocket a bit more. At any rate the app recorded my run geograhically, by elevation and time. Nice to see at the end. I already loved the phone but I guess I just found another reason to love it even more.

10:54 sucks for 1 mile. jk. It's great that your using your evo for this. But still that time sucks...lol

not really I don't think 10:54 is that bad ...its just something that can be definitely worked on...there are many first time runners who can't make the one mile so be proud that you did it.

EVO is off the hook I don't run much that either & I haven't tried it with EVO but it's about to happen tomm..morning. thanks for motivating me op.

So 10:54/mile sucks? I completely disagree. As the most current philosophy for distance running is that running too fast while training is detrimental to performance.

The one "killer app" I'm waiting for is a bluetooth heart rate monitor. I jog, usually 6-13 mile runs. I attempt to keep my heart rate at Max minus 50 ( for me that's 130-135) this allows you to run farther, without soreness the next day and actually builds up the muscles allowing them to use more energy, more efficiently.

I use:
Runkeeper - love it, great info, breaking out splits by default
Nike+ ( with Ipod Nano) great social running tool, the challenges keep you motivated.
Garmin Forerunner 305 - the gorilla of the market, GPS and heart rate a real must have until android gets a heart rate meter.

You can check out the various web interfaces/data pages at my blog

Keep on running!

I used run.GPS on my WinMo phone, and they were able to transfer my license to my EVO. The interface is super ugly, but it's a great app, and supposedly supports bluetooth HRM, although I've never tried it, as I don't have one.

Their website is the killer part - one touch upload of training. Here is an example of a training report, plus keeps track of all your training.

It's a bit pricey, IMHO, so try before you buy. There's a 1 week full featured free trial in the marketplace.

Also, don't worry about how fast you're going, just run. When I started 4 years ago, I couldn't run a full mile. This year I ran my 2nd and 3rd half marathons. I'm far from fast, but a heck of lot faster than the people who don't bother at all.

11 min. is ok. I'm a little overweight but still athletic and can do it in sub 7-8 min mark, although that was when I played baseball year round. IDK about now haha.

But all my running is at the gym now, playing racquetball and doing the stairmaster so I don't really run anymore, but I have been intrigued by the running track applications. The only thing I'm worried about is that the evo is a REALLY big phone to be running with.
