PSA: Evo uses Micro HDMI....NOT Mini HDMI!

I know this has been discussed in multiple threads before, but I just came from Best Buy and was a bit alarmed. I was trying to see if I could get details on some of the accessories that they were going to be getting, and the BB Mobile employee told me that they already had the HDMI cables. I was unaware that these were even availble in any capacity so I went to check it out. He then proceeded to tell me that Mini HDMI is what the Evo uses. THIS IS INCORRECT. Micro HDMI is the correct connector for the Evo. Consider this a warning.

I talked to a Monoprice rep (put as much weight in that as you want) and they said they'll definitely be carrying the cables - just not sure when they're coming in. Said most likely inside of a month.

If you can wait a bit, the DX link posted above or Monoprice (who ships from California) would save you a ton of money.

Oh man this again LOL

Here's ONE of my posts:

$8.40. Total with shipping is around $16 but it's 2 METERS LONG. Twice the length of Dealextreme and Bill tested it here:

Those are currently on backorder.

I was just posting this to make it clear as there still seems to be confusion. Like I mentioned in my post, Best Buy employees are spreading inaccurate information regarding these cables.

So did you set them straight?

I did tell the empolyee. He was quite taken back by it. "Oh, I had no idea" He even did a double take at the dummy unit they had. I doubt he'll pass the word very far within the company, not much I can do there. The differences are pretty distinguishible between mini and micro, so hopefully people will catch on before they get it home.

Were you by chance in Avon? I might have to stop by on my way home from work tomorrow if they have a dummy unit on display.

As a matter of fact I was, are you stalking me!?!?!
Lucky guess. Did they happen to say anything about the free bluetooth headset and car charger mentioned in another thread? I called them a week or so ago and they didn't know anything about it. I also haven't heard anything from them about setting up appointment times.

Anyways you should join my group Indiandroid :p
Done.

So BOTH the charger port and the HDMI port right next to it are MICRO USB? That sure seems to be a dangerous setup. Quite easy to put the car or home charger cable into the HDMI port and ZAP it. They would have been a lot smarter to make one MICRO and one MINI. Pretty dumb if you ask me.

Has this config been actually verified by a current EVO owner?

Done.

I didn't ask them as I pre-ordered through RS.
