Where to put everything?

Hi all,

Just going to put some data on my SD Card but I'm a little confused as to where to put things.

I have put my .ogg files in the MP3 folder and they show up in the Music player perfectly and the album art is there perfectly but the album art also seems to to appear in the Photos app which makes it look unorganised basically, how can I make it not appear there?

Also, I've created a folder called Pictures for my pictures, if I create other folders in there will this list them as folders in the Photos app as I'd like them like that rather than having to scroll through All Photos.

All, where do all the other documents go, videos, spreadsheets etc?

Also, does the Quickoffice application open .odt files or do I have to save them as .doc documents?

I'm going to give these things a try and see if I can work it out myself but thought I'd get some responses first and see how you lot do it.

I think that'll do for now ;)

Well, created folders for my pictures inside my Pictures folder and it groups them perfectly, still can't get rid of the album art in the Photos app though :(

Worked my music out, although I need to amend the tags for a lot of it.

Any help on the rest?

I was palying with this last night and could get pics to show up.

Where to did you put your pictures to show up in the photo app? On the SD card?

Cheers

I have folders inside my MP3 folder on the SD Card, each folder has an album art and the music, this works perfectly on the Music player, everything shows up fine.

There's also a folder called albumart which I deleted all the pictures out of, assume that the SD Card added them in there, I'll delete the actual folder and see if that helps.

Just been in to the Pictures app and deleted it from there but that just deletes the album art in the Music player as well, so they're definitely connected.

Has anyone been able to add pictures to their Desire which don't show up in the Photo's app, i.e. creating a music folder with album art that shows up in the music app but not the photos app.

It's really annoying having to scroll through hundreds of album art to get you my next photo album, doesn't look too good either showing it to other people.

Using a file manager, (I use ES file explorer), navigate to the various folders with the unwanted pictures or icons in and create a new file within the folder called .nomedia

It may say file saved or it may not. The file can't be seen, but after a reboot your unwanted items should be gone from your photos folder.

You could always embed the album art into the id3 tag of the mp3,thus removing the need for a separate folder with art in it.

Works for me.;)
Haven't thought of that, I'll try that tonight, thanks :)

ianofaraby, the pictures are all wanted and work where they should but happen to also show in the photos app, happens with my movies also, where I have a picture of the movie in my movies folders.

I think I've tried that, not sure if I've done it right though.

Basically I've got a folder with all my music in and a .jpg file, so I created a folder called .nomedia and moved the .jpg folder into this folder, not the music files though.

This caused all the music to be hidden from the music and photos apps, even though the music files weren't in the hidden folder?

Do I actually have to put anything in the .nomedia folder?

Just to recap. I assume you are using the stock HTC photo app and have all your photos in a folder called Pictures. When on the albums page, press menu, settings, default albums, I uncheck all the default albums and am left with my camera shots, downloaded photo folders and other bits of junk. You may find that by removing all downloads is enough.

To get rid of the other bits of junk, follow the procedure by navigating (using the phone) to the folder with junk jpegs etc in, click menu, new, file. Rename the file .nomedia and save it in the folder. The .nomedia must be a file in the folder and not a folder with other files in it. Reboot the phone and the junk should have disappeared.

Hope this helps:)

Thanks lekky, that worked a treat.

Slight problem though, and this was there while the album art was too but I have a folder in my photos app called current with supposedly 20 pictures in it but they're all blank, I can't find where it's located on the SD card to delete it, I've gone through all my folders, even the hidden ones and deleted anything I don't know so hopefully it'll go, strange though.
