Ask any (non-geeky) chick what they think about guys carrying cell phones on their hip.

This will allow you to mount the phone out of the direct sun since the Dinc seems to have issues in summer heat running navigation. For me, with a long dashed car, it will put the phone within reach for navigation, and song selection on Pandora, or Slacker. Also cuts down on wires running up to the dash, and no "Steal me" suction cup marks on the window.

I have an adjustable holder that works great and a weighted dashboard suction mount that I can transfer from car to car if necessary. Works great and I don't need to remove my protective case

The bottom has a gripping rubber coating so it doesn't slide around. It sits closer than a dash mount and keeps the phone in place and in reach. I hate the ones that go in your vents too.

Depends. Mine did after a while. Maybe heat changes the composition of the rubber under it? I don't know.. but I had to sell mine (Bracketron) because it was becoming useless to me, sliding all over my dash.

Agreed. I'll most likely be getting the extended battery and protective case for it when it comes out. I carry my phone in my pocket, don't feel too comfortable with it sitting in there naked.

I take mine off the dash for that same reason when not using. It's not a big deal to drop it on the floor when not in use.

I ordered the Wrapsol Ultra which allegedly offers drop protection from a six foot height as well. Now I've never dropped a phone (probably just jinxed myself), so I hope to never find out how that protection works... but the glass on my Droid does have super fine scratches from keeping it in my pocket.

Yeah, yeah . . . I've heard the "geek factor" argument several times in the past, but honestly there's only one chick's opinion I care about & she doesn't give a rat's @$$ where I keep my phone.
When I'm at work, it's on my hip, visible and extremely easy to grab & replace. Nearly every male that you run into downtown, during the day, carries their phone on their hip. When I'm at home or out & about, by shirt tail covers my hips . . . personally, I'd rather take extra precautions to ensure that I'm protecting my phone. For me, it's practicality over fashion, status or image . . . each to their own though, I can understand both sides to the argument.
Bottom line is whether or not you use a case yourself, someone needs to make a Droid Incredible mount that takes the phone with or without case broadening the customer base to include all Incredible owners.

Won't do.. still lacking the extra 2 inches of drop protection I need if I were to drop the phone off my head

I was thinking more along the lines of actual card covers. I've gone the body wrap route before and not a huge fan due to yellowing, change of texture for the screen, etc. Nowadays I just have the clear plastic screen protector plus whenever the hard plastic case for the extended battery comes out (plus the extended battery).

There is an HTC holster which has a drop in mount for the windshield suction cup based mount. Honestly, now that I carry my phone in my pocket, I find it grabbing less things when I walk. I've had a couple short falls when it slid off of my belt on pants with loose belt loops.

I'd love to see a mount that you could use hard shell cases as well. Logistically this would be impossible unless it was the same manufacturer's hard case as there are too many variants.

I'm a fan of Vaja cases, which are more of a drop in style holster or pouch anyway.

Nope, my front pockets are for my wallet, keys, coins, etc.
The last thing I want to do is leave my phone vulnerable to scratches, pressure points, humidity/condensation & accidental screen unlocks in my pocket. With a case & holster or pouch I can protect the phone & screen from unforeseen mishaps and outside elements.

It's an argument that will never go away. Pocket, holster, sleeve... I had an Otterbox on one of my old BB's. Actually saved the device when a garden hose burst from being in the heat. Ironically, my Droid was saved this past weekend when a garden hose at my BIL's house broke, again left out in the sun, sprayed me down, but the phone stayed dry in my pocket.

Carrying a sweet phone is an inherent risk. Get insurance if you care that much.

just fyi (since I live in the evo forum), I can save you at least 10% off of proclip products. ships direct from proclip. Have many happy customers in other parts of these forums. Just thought I'd mention. Can answer questions about their products, mounting options in your car (even if ProClip isn't the solution).

And if you're using a skin type case with your "Inc" you'll have to go to an adjustable holder, which ProClip's are easily the nicest and look like a fixed one once you set it up.

either of their adjustables should do the trick, though I'd go with the iphone based adjustable even though they show the BB Pearl one on the product page.
