Problem with the clock &/or alarm on 2.1

Hi, just joined to say I'm having this same problem. I never had this problem until upgrading to 2.1. I have my clock process excluded in my task manager, I check the volume level every night through Audio Manager, and even in the clock app - and it is not going off. I set alarms for everything, so this is very frustrating.

I can set a test alarm for two minutes from now and it will go off with no issues at full volume. But if I leave it alone for awhile, the alarm won't go off. I think the most reasonable thing to assume here is that it has something to do with the clock not updating until you turn the phone on. I don't know what to do.

LauncherBoy and WildHoney - I'm a Sprint user as well and seem to be having the same problem since updating to 2.1.

Are either of you by chance using one of the pre-installed alarm items or is this occurring on custom alarm items also?

The reason I ask is because I had my alarm set to 6:00 AM (which is one that is pre-built) which never went off. I had another one set for 5:05 AM (which I added) that actually DID go off.

I'm pretty sure all of mine are custom. Are you using a task manager?

A few days ago I uninstalled my task manager and set all of my alarm tones to ones that are standard on the phone (not downloaded from apps like Zedge). I also made sure that the volume was up, and they have been going off ever since (for now)... I have about six different alarms. I had my clock process excluded in my task manager, but maybe there was something else it was killing that would effect my clock? Honestly, my phone is not any faster or slower without a task manager. Android automatically kills apps when it needs to clear memory.

If I start having problems again I will update.

Same experience as Wildhoney; no problem with Hero alarm until Sprint installed the 2.1 Android update. Other major issues: car kit Bluetooth pairs but will not connect; phone dialer has glitches. I am thinking about reverting to Android 1.5.

If you have the official Sprint 2.1 then you can't go back to 1.5. The only possible way is to exchange your phone and hope the new one doesn't come with 2.1 preloaded.

i'm a horrible sleeper, and so that means i often wake up before alarms or anything. i'm running Fresh 2.1.1, and i know what you're talking about. i don't think that the alarm is not going off though. i thought i could simply replicate it by setting an alarm for a few minutes from now, cuz i thought the same thing, that my alarm wasn't working, but this is what i've noticed:

intermittently for some reason, my phone is actually restarting when the alarm goes off, and i'm not using the HTC clock, i'm using the Android clock. i usually have my phone plugged in, and so i'm not sure if that's part of the problem or not. but it would be curious if your phone is actually restarting when the alarm goes off. it could be like some sort of problem playing the sounds after extended period of time or something.

anyways, just my observation. i didn't read the whole thread or anything, but i'm betting this is more something related to the 2.1 roms in general and probably based on sort of all the weird random issues some people have and some people don't, maybe just all people don't see it i guess.

Two of my alarms have not gone off today. They are within an hour of each other. When the first one didn't go off at 3:45, I didn't touch my phone and just waited until 4:35 for the other one... I literally sat at my desk and watched my phone for several minutes before the alarm was scheduled to go off, and several minutes after the alarm was scheduled to go off. It did absolutely nothing. No vibration, the screen did not light up with the alarm animation, no LED, nothing - it just sat there completely silent.

Earlier today I changed some settings (in accounts and sync) - but that is the only thing I can think of that I have done differently than what I've done the past few days (where my alarms were working fine).

Thinking about saying screw it and going to Sprint store.
