Help How to Install Applications on Samsung Galaxy

Hello Droids
Can anybody help me how to install an applications to Samsung Galaxy (GT-i7500) only from PC (applications which I downloaded from the internet)

If it is an .apk file then transfer the file from your pc to the sd card. If you have a file manager then when you click on the .apk file that you transfered it should prompt you to download the file. You should be set from there.

Yes its an .apk file and the problem is that my Samsung Galaxy is so bare it got no File Manager and the .apk file which Im trying to install is a File Manager.
the install fuction in NPS doesn't work... any other idea?

When i am trying to connecting GT i5700 to PC while download mode then its showing Samsung mobile modem and samsung USB drive instead of Samsung Android USB modem and Samsung Android USB Composite Device. Please help any body having solution.

Kies (the latest version) sayd device not ruported and PC Studio dosen't see the device at all in i uncheck mass storege only... I'm running on win 7 pro can enibidy help me?
whit some drivers or some ideas.... The phone is brand new 2 days old original 1.5 android version. Thanx

Have you enabled USB Debugging?

Menu
Settings
Applications
Enable Unknown Sorces [x]
Then
Development
Enable USB Debugging [x]

Hey people here is the complete solution for installing applications offline. The method works even if you dont have any file manager especially the new Phones dont come with a file manager by default.

I think you need root access to your phone, to install apps using the SDK.

However with the SDK, (and root access) you can delete/add files. eg. I got rid of all the usless (to me) ringtones, and apps like facebook, layar, videoplayer and Pantheon. And replaced them with apps I actually wanted.
Freed up loads of space.

And just to brag, my phone running LiveWallpapers

You can of course try Android Commander, a management application that lets you control your android apps and files from PC.

No beerkan, To use the sdk way you need not root your phone. It works fine. I have done that myself before posting it here. chek with the adb tool in the sdk.

I agree with remolon..... Rooting NOT necessary for using the SDK way of installing apps.

I too have done it without rooting my phone.

But I suggest using the SDK method only to install the app Installer & thereafter using the APP Installer to install .apk files from the SD card.

You are right gents. You can install the SDK and then install apps without rooting. However you do not gain access to /system/app which is where main apps are stored. If you factory reboot you lose any apps you installed. Hence my suggestion that you really need root.

You can access /system/apps using the Open intents file manager. You can also copy the apps from this location to your SD card! Thats how i backup my applications. So again There is no need to root to access /system/apps and back up your applications.

Hmmm.....

I really don't know why root access id do essential....

I never backup my applications..... The only thing I ever worry about is backing up my Contacts.

Once they are backed up..... I am done!!!

Of course not

yes you cannot copy there without root but I dont see any need to copy an app to /system/apps when you can always backup your apps. But it needs to get installed once again though(here is where your idea works like champ).

The Question in this thread was to install applications offline for which there was no need to root. I do agree that gaining root access will do more magic but you also have to deal with unnecessary risks which you have to be cautious.

And to backup contacts there is a tool called handset manager for android which syncs contact between outlook and android but limited to V1.5 and v1.6 .

Option does not show on my application menu.

That, unfortunately, is because AT&T has blocked installs from any and all non-Market apps. You can try sideloading.

Download and extract this: Android SDK | Android Developers

Finally go into the tools directory in the directory you extracted the android sdk to and type:
adb -d install filename.apk
where filename.apk is the name of the apk file you downloaded and want to install. Obviously you'll have to put a copy of that file in the tools directory as well. The sdk lets you do all sorts of things on the phone that you normally wouldn't be able to do.

if what you pretend is install files .apk you just will need the 'app installer' or 'app saver'

App Installer - you can browse your sdcard and pick the apk that you want

App Save - he gives you a list of apps installed and you can do a backup from them, or uninstall them, or install (he checks your sdcard in order to list all the .apk's on it)

I'm not sure what you mean by: go into the tools directory. Do you mean use Terminal? I tried this with Terminal and it said:
adb: command not found.

I have a Galaxy Tab using Android 2.2. I'm trying to install Z4root, but the it won't let me install apps not from the marketplace.
