Everyone Share their experiences with their new Evo... Or why they dont have the Evo

So got to Sprint store about 7am. Was first person there. Wife went next door to Starbucks to get coffee and as soon as she left another Guy showed up. Then a third before Debra showed back with my coffee. By 7:30, there was maybe 12 people in line.

At a bit after 7, the Sprint employees started showing up. The manager I spoke to last week came and said hi to me by name which made me really smile.

Store opened at 8, all the employees lined up. Went to first one, gave him my Hero box. He scanned then a bunch of clicks, my credit card a few times. THEN $480 later, my wife and I were first out with our Evos.

How do I like it?? I love it. Everything about it. I came from a Hero. The Evo is everything I hoped. Still need to play with keyboards but no way I could have posted all this from my Hero.

had Sprint appointment at 830 this morning. Pleasant and quick. < 15 I was out the door with a handful of activated 4G goodness. At home now synching my appbrain. 1st impressions coming from blackberry 8830
1. The battery drains pretty fast (get car charger)
2. The screen is awesome (65K colors or not) viewing pics from my 10 MP Dslr look great its no LCD monitor but it works frine with pics as a background
3. The phone is extremely fast, screen transitions, apps starting etc.
4. HTC Sense is a great UI including the exchange mail support WAS THINKING ABOUT ROOTING but i believe ill stick with sense
5 4g speeds in my area (North austin suburbs) are averaging 2.5 - 2.7 down.
5A call quality is great
6. The evo downloads the SD card fix only only 4g or wifi.
7. should have bought a screen protector the screens smudges are ugly. the screen in the sun isnt as bad as the reviews stated. polarized shades help greatly.
8. i love this phone :)

Showed up to my local store are 7:15 to see a line of 2 people in lawn chairs. The first guy in line had been there since 3am and the 2nd 6am. The Sprint manager came out of the store around 7:30 with a pot of coffee and topped off anyone who needed it. They let all 4 of us in at 7:45, by 8 there was about 7 people total. 8:30am I was running out of the store with my Evo 4g in hand, hoping to make a 40 mile commute in 30 minutes so I would not be late for work. Got there 2 minutes early. ;)

The phone is completely incredible. I came from a Hero, so I knew what to expect, but I had no idea it would be so polished, so streamlined, so fast... so big! Really this thing is flippin' HUGE. But a big ole' gator boots type hot HUGE! Seriously flipping the screen on for the first time is breathtaking. It is what a smart phone should be. I never owned an iphone, but I bet this is a similar feeling. No buyers remorse at all, just buyers afterglow.

I know it will have some issue(s) that somebody is going to discover over the next week, but I don't care. It will all be OK... It is mine now...

I just went to BB to pick up my preorder. They had 85 Evos and ALL of them were preordered!

Bad news: Their computers stopped working when I got there. They weren't able to activate the phones of the 4 ppl being helped in front of me. The manager just kept apologizing profusely. She says the Sprint system is down/slow because of so many simultaneous activations.

BB won't let you buy the phone and have it activated yourself.

Whatever. I'll go back in a couple of hours and get it. But it does suck I have to wait even longer.

My appointment was at 7:30am at RS in Annapolis. Showed up 15 minutes early and they were just finishing up the person before me. Got everything done fairly quickly.

They did appointments every 1/2 hour I believe and that was perfect timing. They were almost done all their pre-orders by 8-8:30am. Don't think they had a ton.

Picked up two car chargers because they didn't have any cases. Left there, hit the sprint store and picked up two of the soft rubber cases. They are ok..but they hide the power button too well. Gotta get used to the position of that button.

Oddly enough he had me activate the phones. It's extremely easy to do and it worked perfectly.

got it 8:30am with my Shack preorder. played with it all morning at work and it died at 11:30..not bad i thought. Had a small issue with the memory card as it was saying something like "insufficient permission" when I tryied to take a picture or video. I reformatted the card and then I couldn't open the camera or video app at all. I delted Advance Task Killer, rebooted the phone, and now it works like a charm. Going to the Sprint store after work to get a body glove case (got the Zagg screen protector at the Shack with my $20 accessory credit).

The biggest suprise to me was the size. I really really thought this phone was gunna be too big for everyday use. I was pleasantly suprised though as I think I can easily use the EVO as an everyday phone.

Was the insufficient error after you downloaded the new OTA update?

Got to the store about 0540, 5 other guys in front of. One who had a pre-order. Before the store opened another 3 people came. The manager was told the pre order guy he had to come at his appointed time, as he was the only one, the group of us ask if he could stay we didn't mind. So them manger let him get two phone earlier. I ended up being the first out of the store, one of the guy in front of my who was porting his number ended up, having to leave to get some ( I think his ATT account number he had 3G iphone) Then by the time I left (10-15 mins) they would have only have one more non pre order phone, as there was a few people in line after me. The process was smooth, just the person kept trying to sell me a $30 car charger, then some other accessories. After I politely said no, multiple times. I am sure he was just doing his job and told me to come see him next year when the replacement comes out ( I am sure the was a figure of speech and not a definite date on the EVO2 coming :) I don't want to be the one to start the rumors)
