Verizon sent me a replacement Eris with a 1.49 hboot on it. I just wander if they know what there doing. There sending put phones that potentially can't receive future updates if there are any. Has anyone else got one with this? Kinda disappointed, really wanted to root.

The future updates thing isn't true... 1.49 is the new Boot Loader standard. But I'm sure they know what they're doing when they block people from rooting. You can guarantee that's the whole reason the 1.49 BL was developed.

You can't root with the 1.49 hboot

This is true for now, but what you said is that Verizon is sending out a phone that cannot be updated. That is quite far from the truth. What Hallstevenson pointed out in another thread, as fact, is that the 2.1 OTA update simply looked for 1.5 and if it wasn't there, then the update failed. It had nothing to do with the hboot. Future updates will certainly be possible.

Yea sorry, I misspoke. I read that after I posted. Still sucks that you can't root though.
