Moto Droid to get 2.2 possibly this week, no DInc news

Moto Droid may be getting 2.2 this week. Motorola has set up a sign up to be notified when its released. Should be very soon. BOOOOOOO! All the rumors were the Evo and Dinc being first to get 2.2 guess thats why they're called rumors. I have a feeling the Sense UI is gonna keep us in the cold for a while. D'OH!

True, but I'm sure HTC will have to get their hands all up inside it and tweek it how they want.

We will get 2.2. It will take time since HTC has to test it against Sense. Once it passes their testing, Verizon will test it against their system. It will take some time. I don't think it will be as long as the Eris/Hero. Just like ramcharger1979 said, "they went from 1.5 to 2.1 We are only going from 2.1 to 2.2.

I would like to see froyo ASAP as well, but I'd rather wait a little longer for the release and have it be fully tested and functioning. I've seen first hand what happens when an update gets rushed. Something inevitably breaks and everyone is pissed.

2.2 is a significant change from 2.1- complete rewrite of dalvik layer, more api access and apps2sd function. This update is far bigger than 1.5 to 2.1, since that change was mainly cosmetic and new stock apps. HUGE.

2.1 to 2.2 may be the most understated number revision increment ever.

My guess is August is best case for Sense devices, but I am happy with 2.1, since Flash Lite 4 is fine and the Inc already has plenty of app space with 748mb. Unlike other devices that store everything on the rom, the new and larger OS updates will not impact this space.

Besides, the current version of Flash 10.1 that works with 2.2 is still beta and does not have GPU support yet. Not much better than Flash Lite 4- for now.

The Droid had a pretty long wait as well for 2.1, not quite as bad as the Eris/Hero, but still.

Yea, as a former BB Storm user, I can definitely agree with that for sure. I'd rather wait and have it closer to perfect than thrown at me with all sorts of BS problems.

I agree but I really want the JIT Compiler. That should make the DInc run way faster.

that graph is odd to me. unless you're overclocking, i dont see how a moto droid could outperform a nexus one with snapdragon. it's significantly faster than the stock droid cpu...

well if the droid is slower to start out with then the incredible, wouldnt it still make the incredible at 2.2 way faster? I mean the droid was at like 260ish and then went to 1557. The incredible was at 500 so shouldnt it be at the lowest the same as the droid with 2.2? jw

I have to agree. Its not like they're going to hold out on us. Were going to get it eventually, so just be patient and happy that you aren't still using 1.5.

The Incredible will get the same score as the N1 2.2 in that chart.

That Droid score is overclocked to 1.25GHz.
