why cant we find this on the app market?

The company intends for their software to come factory set in phones rather than have it available for download for other devices. They do beta testing which allows anyone with a compatible touch-screen device to try their software but they tend to shut those versions down once that round of testing is over. So basically the only way you'll find it is through the generous hackers who frequent this forum and make such things available to the public.

They have a very patient business model and it must pay off more than making it available for a fee in the various OS markets, because this keyboard is hot and would be selling like hotcakes right now. I'd gladly pay for a fully supported copy.

I've used both ShapeWriter and Swype. I like the feel of Swype better, and it is also more forgiving of keystroke mistakes, but ShapeWriter is also top notch and has some cool features. I am currently using ShapeWriter, but Swype is still installed and available.

I also installed both on my wife's phone, and she didn't care for Swype at all, but now uses ShapeWriter all the time.

prior to install it says app logs key strokes,is this safe?
I'd imagine if you were actually concerned about it, use the "stock" keyboard for entering PINs, bank info, credit card info, etc.... but I'm sure that warning is just a "catch all" legal cover for the manufacturers. Or, I suppose the Swype creators know what movies I'm going to see, what I'm doing for dinner, and my facebook status updates... that's some fun reading right there... :p

I'm currently using Swype on my Incredible and will be installing it on my sister's Eris tonight... it's fantastic! What a slick keyboard setup!!
