Root Watching Hulu on Droid 2.2 with Flash

I am posting this since it took me about 90 minutes to figure it out, and I've seen a few others having the same problems I was having.

For those getting the "error" in hulu about an anonymous proxy:

1) Launch stock broswer.
2) In URL field, type "about:debug" (minus the quotes)
3) Click menu button, click on "more", then choose settings.
4) Scroll to bottom of settings and you should see option for UAString
(You will only see this option if you completed step 2)
5) Change UAString to "desktop"
6) Browse to hulu.com/widget/player and watch your video

From my limited trial, it appears that each time browser is restarted, you have to complete the above steps again to reset the UAString.

Has anyone also tried this same type of change in Dolphin or Dolphin HD by changing the user agent to Desktop?

Depending on what browser Dolphin tries to impersonate, it may or may not be the same thing.

I got Hulu playing in Dolphin HD. In Dolphin you CAN change the UA without entering about:debug. (Menu>More>Settings>User Agent) So far so good, but I remain poised for a proxy error.

Looks like they blocked it again... Just tried it in dolphin Hd with desktop agent on and it gave me the device isn't supported error....

Hmmm..still playing with mine. Did you try doing the about:debug in the address bar first?

hulu.com/widget/player
It worked for me this morning, but I know those Hulu guys are fast at work to "fix" any exploit we find. (need to do the about:debug each time though, works in stock browser).

With Dolphin HD and the widget, I'm not having to do the about:debug every time. FWIW

Same here, on dolphin, go to the widget and switch to desktop, no more about:debug step.
