Best screen protectors

Can someone tell me what is the best screen protector is for the droid. I purchased the invisible shield by Zagg today and the salesman put it on for me. It seems to show some smudges, is there a better brand out there. The guy said that Zagg was one of the best.

I can tell you the Verizon one sucks!
I completely agree. I thought I got a good deal when I picked them up tonight, 3 for $12.99. That couldn't be further from the truth! First of all for some unfathomable reason they decided to end the protector above the capacitive keys. It makes no sense because the keys are completely flat and work on the same capacitive principle as the screen. So what you end up with is a very awful looking installation of a screen protector that ends suddenly at the lower end of the screen. Had they continued the protector over the keys it would have been a slick installation.

To make matters worse it doesn't seem to be cut evenly on the left and right and I have a ton of bubbling. Normally I would tear it off and buy something else, but there isn't exactly a choice on launch day locally. Once I secure a better protector these are going back to the Verizon store for a much deserved refund.

For comparison here is how they should have been cut:

dont get the security screen from VZW, bites the big one, you lose 85% of the touch functionality of the phone

I returned the Verizon one - terrible feel to it, dark, bad touch response and I never did find the setting to increase the sensitivity.

Regards.... Steve

I got the Verizon one and it was a gigantic pain in the ass to put it on, I ruined one while trying to do it. But once it was on it worked great and I have not lost any touch functionality.

I am replying to all of these in a batch. I got the same ones from VZW, discounted to $9.74 when I made the purchase online, and I installed it after 2 tries perfectly fine. In addition, I have no loss of functionality (I have been using it to tweet, check email, browse the web and test the GPS functionality, thus far, without a hitch), so I am not sure about the complaints being lodged here.

As for the fact that it does not cover the capacitive keys, well, that I have to agree on - no idea why they did that....

As for the setting to increase touch sensitivity, I never looked for it b/c I did not need it.

I ***will* say that every now and again I will touch the screen and it seems as if the app I am in all of a sudden has gone to the end (noticed this 3 times today, twice browsing and once when tweeting), but I cannot say for a fact if this is due to the screen protector or not, b/c I refused to use my phone without it on (I programmed it with the original protective sleeve that came with the phone, then removed that and installed this).

I will say that the Zagg makes an incredible product. I have used them on a lot of my previous phones.

This time I went with a VZW screen protector and it has worked flawlessly. My only gripe being that it doesn't cover the bottom row of keys but that is not a deal breaker.

Smudging is something that is going to happen no matter what screen protector you have so get a screen cloth.

I think the varying reports are due to the fact that Verizon is selling two versions of the screen protector:

1. Clear ones I tried and don't like that don't cover the keys
2. Privacy shield which I haven't personally tried.

I'm thinking #2 is causing the touch sensitivity issues, that is something I have not experienced with the clear ones.

I was thinking about why Verizon might have cut the protector short of covering the kyes and thought I had a good theory. I figured the keys must be textured and won't allow the protector to adhere properly. I was literally dumbfounded when I looked at my phone and the keys have no texture at all, the protector could have easily extended all the way to the bottom for a very nice fit.

I've heard the zagg ones leave a tacky feeling on the screen though, inhibiting the "gliding" motion that you get when just moving your finger along glass.

I have the verizon ones (the non privacy ones) and they work well enough. I really don't even notice it's there. That being said, I really wish it covered the row of buttons.

Any suggestions (besides zagg and the one linked above) for a screen protector that covers the whole screen?

True enough - I got hte non privacy one as well, which explains why I am not having issues. Also, I realized that I would still need to get some sort of carrying case / holdster for it if I were to buy the Zagg one - but at least I am going ot try it out - then I would not need a silicone based one and would be able to use both GPS mount and MM Dock, so in the long run I feel the Zagg is a winner.

Another option is Ghost Armor. I've never personally used their products, but I think they're exactly the same as Zagg or Best Skins Ever. They appear to have a full-body protector for the Droid at the same price as Zagg's screen-only protector, and they also offer a lifetime warranty.

I was hoping Best Skins Ever would have a screen protector available, since they're products are sooo much cheaper, but I can't find any info on their website.

I have used Zagg for a long time. Ever since they were called invisible shield. They are great protectors but as one user above stated they are almost "soft" to the touch and it will inhibit the sliding motion of your finger a little. Helps a lot with smudges though. I am currently using the VZW non privacy one and it's ok, the lady didn't put it on very well but it's good until I figure something better...

I really can't understand how some of you guys are calling the Verizon 3 pack Droid protectors OK or even acceptable. They don't fit right at all, and to end it before the buttons is simply asinine.

I picked up the Invisisheild screen protector today at Best Buy and will report back on it. Already I can see that it fits the ENTIRE screen so that is an immediate advantage.

The IinvisbleSHIELD by Zagg is far and away the best investment for anything. If you're getting too many conflicting reports in this thread, then resolve the issue and simply go to Zagg.com. There, you'll find all of the testimonials and demonstration videos you'll ever need in order to make an informed decision.

Plus, it's a lifetime warranty, so, hello!

I got a 3M full body shield on eBay for 9.99 w/ free shipping. I won't have ti till next Wednesday but it is the same thing as a zagg.Oh and anyone who wants a anti-smudge/fingerprint/oil screen protector, try and find one made by Power Support. I had them for my iphone and G1 and they work great. I'm Italian and have oily skin so I would always get smudges and whatnot after a call but with one of these it really doesn't transfer to the screen. The only downside is it has a kind of frosted layer to it which makes certain colors appear to have tiny little dots all over the screen, but you get accustomed to it quickly and also it doesn't effect the smoothness, it actually makes it even smoother IMO.

The Zagg is the best but the Verizon ones work fine for myself and for several other people in here. I don't know why the keys are not covered by it but that's not that big of an issue for me as those are shieldewd by the rubber case I got. Other than that it fits perfectly.

I returned the privacy protector just now, and the clerk said they got an email late yesterday telling them to stop selling them.

I returned mine too and my store acted like I was on glue saying how bad it sucked. There is NO sensitivity adjust on the droid. I am protector free for the moment as this privacy one was so bad it makes me not want anymore.
