Help Galaxy S glass surface

Is it the glass surface that cant be easily scratched with keys or other sharp objects like a razor ?

well if its like the behold2 screen no it doesn't scratch at all...its the one good thing i'll say about the b2 and i would assume with the galaxy s its the same durability or better. i don't use a screen protector at all and phone is in and out of my pockets all day. i also have an iphone and the screen is more resistant to scratches than the iphone too.

This explains Super Amoled a bit better am still searching for information.

The Official Samsung Bada site shows that the Samsung Wave using the 3.3" Super Amoled Screen does indeed have "tempered glass" so just a guess but i would imagine the Galaxy S would be the same.

Interestingly it also says it has Anti-smudge technology which i hope the Galaxy also has because i had to constantly clean my Sony X10's Lcd on fingerprints lol

Tempered Glass is what iPhones use as well and they seem to be pretty scratch resistant (not that i've owned one) lol so all should be good.

A friend of mine has a 3GS and he tells me that its can be easily scratched, but ive read on other forums that its very resistant to scratches it could be have a product batch issue though.

Well if it's made of the same stuff as used on the HTC HD2 then it's practically bullet-proof.

... not really but you get my drift.

Just before I purchased my HD2 I watched a small YouTube clip of a guy who used a pair of scissors, a stanley knife and keys on the screen.
He pressed hard and I mean hard on the screen, rubbing frantically back and forth across the screen.
When he finished he picked up a cloth, cleaned the screen and you couldn't see a mark.... nothing.

if it is Gorilla glass,it will not get scratched by anything you could put in your pocket. this is on the Dell streak and other handsets, hopefully will be standard ,this sh*t is awesome!

Its probably not since it was never showed how touch the screen is even after release dates.

you probably don't want to hear this now, but a rule of the thumb is keep a "dedicated" pocket for your phone, no keys, no nothing other then your phone.

Learned this the hard way with my old SE phone, think it was the T750i.

Ouch!! I was hoping that the screen is very scratch resistant coz I dont wanna use any screen protectors as there is a chance that the sensitivity will reduce.. looks like I might be buying invisible shield for this..

I cant speak for Galaxy S users, but i can tell you with having a Martin Fields protector on my Desire has made NO difference whatsoever in reducing screen sensitivity.

Same i love the protector, too bad its still prone to Finger nail scratches, in terms of clear its very clear no reflection and colour distortion...
will get it as soon as its ready for the S, gotta protect ya screens people!

Screen protectors will not affect screen sensitivity but it will affect the feel of the screen to a less smooth one. Personally I will not use a screen protector. I've had my Nokia N95 8GB for over 2,5 years and the only blemishes on the screen are very hard to see (only seen at a certain angle in bright light), and I haven't been too careful with that one.

I'll probably buy a bag to put the SGS in when I'm on the go (never had that for my old phone) but keep the phone as it is during actual use.

But a screen protector will be a good investment for some. I just know that the risk of me ruining the screen with scratches is lower than the negatives of having a screen protector for my part.
