I bought the $5 insurance and the cheaper data plan, not the "unlimited". From what I read, I believe that everything the other data plan offers you can eventually do through google perhaps (google sync?) in the near future? I rather just manually save my contacts to gmail instead of spending money for VZM to store my info somewhere on their servers. That is, if I am understanding this correctly. I plan to use this phone for the google exp and to check e-mail, send texts, and make phone calls. Did I pick the right plan? I called VZM 2 minutes after they closed and I didn't want to wait until tomorrow morning to order my droid :D

I thought that with the Droid you do not have a choice as to your data plan. It's a $30 unlimited data plan for personal phones; $45 for business phones. Only choice is as to how many minutes for calls and text message via Basic or Select voice/messaging options (for 450 minutes, 900 minutes etc). I know there was some confusion about this, but I'm pretty sure from various sources that the "data plan" from Verizon for the Droid is $30/month, flat rate, unlimited data, period end of story.

The $30 ($29.99)/mo plan is for personal phone owners; if you're a business buying a "business" phone it's $45($44.99). There's no choice of on your part. If the VW account is a personal account the plan is $30, if it's a corporate VW account the plan is $45. (Note: of course a person with a personal plan can still use the phone for business purposes as well as person -- it just depends on what kind of account you have with VW -- I imagine nearly all of us on the Phandroid board have personal accounts).

Ig92928, it doesn't matter what you have on your versa, I'm tellin' ya, on the new Motorola Droid plan with Verizon, you get either a "Basic" (voice) or "Select" (voice + messaging) plan PLUS you get a $29.99 unlimited data plan (which includes email and everything else).

The Verizon site has a LOT of different plans, and there are some that are applicable to Blackberry and other types of smartphones -- but for the Droid, they are keeping it real simple. The "data" part is $29.99 personal or $44.99 corporate, unlimited data.

I was shocked today.

$79.00 for 900mins +5 fav's, and that included unlimited data and txt.

I get my corp discount on top of that, too, so it's like $65 a month!

I even called VZ to verify this after buying, and they confirmed it all! yay!
What plan is that? I don't see anything like that anywhere on the website.

450 Min/no Txt/Email is $79.99 to start... where are you getting a $79.00 900 Mins/Unlimited Txt/Unlimited Data plan?

EXACTLY, and why I was shocked.

Nationwide select 900 $79.99.

This was local in a best buy, rep wrote that data was included, so I don't know if he did some magic.

But I called VZ when I got home cause it didn't add up on my "contract", and VZ verified this 100%, and I asked specifically...

I have unlimited txt?
I have unlimited data?
I have 900 mins that I can use in other states?
I have 5 numbers on the circle?

All answers were YES!

Again, if you go online, you can't see this... but after BB, VZ verified that my data/txt plan was a $30 add on. I have no idea how this worked out.

Typically on my corp discount, and online this would be a $110 plan, about $97 with my corp 19%.

I just calc'd this and it now about $65 with my corp discount. I went to a VZ store after BB to verify, and got my 19% off on the windshield mount and the home dock.

I'm ECSTATIC about these new developments!

I've never even heard of select... is it possible that this is a special plan for certain corporate affiliations or something?

Wait a sec, I have to dig out the receipt that I just buried, but my final price... .he either didn't charge me for the zagg screen protector, or he waived the activation.

It was like $23_ something... $199.99 for the phone 19.99 for the zagg + tax at 7.5%?

He did mumble something about calling to get the activation waived.... hmmm..... wait:

Yup just verified, $236.48. Free activation, I love me my local Best Buy peeps, lol.

This is incorrect.

The Select plans include voice and text but no data.
ThE Connect plans include all three.

I would call verizon again.

That is not correct.

Data was added automatically per my plan. I have called VZ and I have verified in my online account.

Again, maybe it's a BB type plan?

EDIT: just verified it online on my account. It is as I rep'd it. Maybe some BB magic? Maybe not what everyone will get, but when I click on my tabs, it says unlimited txt, then data, unlimited data.

The connect plan doesn't apply to Smartphones/PDA/Blackberry.

I'm assuming he means he got the Select Plan and the $30 Data plan on top of it... which is why he (and I) was surprised when the bill came to $79.00 considering a 450 Select Plan starts at $59.99 by itself.

What kind of discounts (minus signs) are shown in your plan other than your 19% Corp Discount. It should say something like Select 900 for XX.XX, Data for $29.99, Minus XX.XX for BB Magic, etc.

I completely understand that that is what you were told. I'm just encouraging you to call Verizon again directly and verify with someone else.

I've got the latest Verizon magazine in front of me explaining the plans, and it's quite clear that the Select plan does not include data. You can add a data package to Select for $29.

Just trying to help you out! The last thing you want is to end up with a pay-per-use data plan when you thought it was unlimited!!

Best of luck!!!
