motorola droid vs incredible

I sold my Motorola Droid and purchased an HTC incredible, I have now owned the incredible since its release day and I think it's a pretty awesome phone, that being said...My Moto Droid took better video, had a better battery life, much better speakerphone, seemed to be built better and heavier had a physical keyboard that was really needed to use emulators properly and had way way better 3g reception. HTC sense UI is very nice but defaults the phone to dead last when updating the OS (and I'm hearing some great things about Froyo) so probably won't see an update till October/November ;( ... The magnetic sensor was also a plus when docking and using the GPS ... now the bad ......... when using the Motorola Droid as a phone, callers complained that my voice was muffled, haptic feedback stopped working when then OS updated to 2.1 and the phone lacked internal memory and not nearly enough RAM but it was the 1st of its generation (in my opinion, sorry T-Mobile ) and I'm sure its shortcomings will be resolved with the next gen Moto Droid. It's supposed to have a keyboard with slightly raised keys and assumingly going to have a 1ghz processor or better .... I guess what I'm trying to say is.... If they beat or match HTC hardware specs, I think Motorola is a better phone company. This is just an opinion and I'm posting this to see what others may think .. PS. I really hate that the incredible doesn't have a native landscape mode for audio player and unless the dock activates something I'm unaware of the phone will probably also not navigate in landscape mode when placed in it .... THAT WOULD SUCK!

I've always been a fan of MOTO and if the Droid wasn't so Clunky I'd probably have one. That being said I think currently the incredible crushes the Droid but don't think for one minute that when the new version comes out I won't be eye balling it. The mag sensor would be nice but I don't carry my personal phone in a pouch or clip like my BB so doesn't matter to me, and sense is nice even if it does slow down updates. Physical keyboard also means nothing to me.
Whatever though both are good phones and I can understand your point, need to just buy what works for you and be happy. With the incredible shortage you could probably sell it then pick up a Droid and make a few bucks! I love the usa!

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my incredible for the original Moto Droid but will probably do it for 2nd gen, depends of course on its specs and the reviews

I myself love HTC products. I think the build quality is pretty close to the build quality of the iphone which is industry standard. The only thing i think i'm disappointed with the HTC incredible would be the lack of video processing. The moto droid has a PowerVX (i think) which makes it pretty powerful. People talk about the crappy battery power of the HTC incredible but i can tell you its way better than what i used to have. I used to have a Blackberry Tour and it sucked the battery dry quickly even when you weren't using it and on top of that it was slow. Still can't understand why people love blackberries but oh well.

Unfortunately, it makes little sense to compare the battery life of old tech (even the Moto Droid) to newly emerging smartphones that pack processors that run natively above or around one gigahertz clock speeds that are just as thin and portable. Battery tech has not been able to keep up with the progression of portable devices, and as such, one cannot expect a newer phone to have the amazing battery life that older ones had, while maintaining their millimeters thick form factor.

I think you can when your current phone over twice as fast as your old phone and still has better battery life. I think just as long as a phone gets someone throughout the day with heavy usage it should be acceptable.

Its kind of funny how when you hear news on the 1.5ghz snap dragon or dual core snapdragon you hear all kinds of people saying I WANT ONE I WANT ONE....its these sample that are complaining that they can't get 3 days on a single charge.

While I love this phone the one area I will disagree is build quality. It is not close to the I-phone. I dropped my I-phone several times and nothing happened. I would not imagine that be the case with the incredible.

The build quality of the Incredible is ultimately why I went back to my Motorola Droid. Yeah, the phone is clunky as hell but it's built like a tank as a result.

I feel the same way, I owned a Droid and switched to the Eris after a few days kind of reggreted it but the ugly boxyness of the Droid really got to me.
I'm sticking with the Incredible till LTE comes out and they release a phone that will most likely have the best of both the DI and Droid spawned into one amazing piece of technology

That's exactly my point, I have both Droid and the Dinc, I gave the Droid to my wife and kept the Dinc and I'm very pleased with both phones.

However I'm not replacing my Dinc until LTE comes out, the first phone will be a beast either from MOTO or HTC, period.

Totally agreed! The next phone I purchase will HAVE to be LTE capable
