Accessories USB tv-out on the EVO

I noticed that HTC is releasing a micro usb > composite out cable for the Incredible that's able to output the phone's display. I was wondering if anyone's tried to do something similar on the EVO. I'd like to see this as an option because

1. Not all tvs have an hdmi connection
2. The current HDMI solution only allows certain apps to be displayed on the tv. You tube for example doesn't work currently.

If any of you early adopters could test a cable out that be great, thanks!

I'm jones'n to buy the cable and see if it works with the EVO, but it's out of stock and impossible to find anywhere!

I was using a RCA TV Out with my Touch Pro in my car. It's mini-USB so I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Probably crash my new EVO, but that's what insurance is for right...?

FYI, while searching for stuff for the EVO, I found a BUNCH of places (ebay included) that sell mini>micro hdmi adaptors. Not sure if it'll allow the thing to work, but for those that wanna give it a shot, I thought I'd bring it up.

That's great, glad youtube is working. Now if you could output your video for all apps like games to your tv that would be amazing. I really hope the incredible cable works with the evo.

THEN I read the HTC Incredible's TV OUT *DOES* display the OS and Apps. *GRUMBLE* I had my Sprint inquiry escalated to PLM. That was 4 business days ago. They've blown me off I think.

That's the one reason you bought your phone? Because of what a random rep told you? You didn't even bother to investigate further? Bummer.

Also, the Incredible...it's not like the USB->TV cables are readily available, so be patient and you'll probably be able to do it on your EVO as well.

Not the only one, but it was a big selling point, yes. I plan to use my phone for demonstrations of apps and the OS, so that is a major requirement for me.

As for the Incredible and USB>TV, I agree, and I hope when I get my hands on one of those cables it can work (or be hacked to made work).

Seems like an odd thing to be a major selling point...and if it was so major and you were counting on it so much, it seems to me that you'd do a little more research on it.

What exactly do you do that you need to hook up your phone to a TV all the time to show how Sense works and how apps work?

Anybody who is building apps would want an easy want to show/demonstrate not just over a projector but over the web too. Video out lets you do that in more ways than one.

What kind of video resolution comes out of the evo to the tv. If im not mistaken, composite connections are not HD.

Just called VZ, Best Buy, and HTC. No cable, no ETA. The ones in the wild are likely from HTC demos/beta testing..

i know the htc incredible can because its a built in feature but there has to be an app or some setting get this to work...some one who knows this phone in and out and much more tech savvy then me, please help!!
