HTC's Twitter app/widget totally sucks.

Blah. The stock HTC one has stopped working for me for some reason. It won't load any of the tweets in the actual widget unless I open it up. I've tried taking it off the home screen and putting it back on there and nothing has worked. So if someone can help me get that squared away, I'd be more than happy to stick with the original one.

Thats weird. How often does your twitter update? I think mine is set to like 4 or 6 hours. You can reset the update under settings. Also down at the bottom of the twitter app there is a thin line with a little refresher symbol. Whenever I need a quick update I hit that and it updates everything within 10 seconds.

I get nothing. No matter what the reload time is set to, the widget is empty. All the time. The only way I get to see tweets is if I hit the arrow on the top right corner of it to actually open the program.

Well there's the official Twitter app.

I'd say the best free replacement is Tweetcaster.

Personally I adore Touiteur.
I have an htc Hero. I'm with MisterMixelPix, I love Touiteur also! It can be downloaded FREE from the Market. With the apps, Twitter or otherwise, it pays to just spend some time playing with them. For instance, I did not know that the full-page Twitter app that comes installed on the Hero can be condensed to a small rectangle, until yesterday. And I've had my phone for 4 months. I don't know about the other models, but the hero also comes with a Twitter app called "Peep." It's just a little green bird that you can touch, then you are connected to Twitter.

I use the HTC Twitter app also. I had the same problem where all of a sudden the widget stopped working. It happened shortly after I started using Friendstream. Friendstream would show my Facebook activity but would'nt show Twitter. When I removed the Friendstream widget and put the Twitter widget back nothing worked. I eventually cleared cache and data rebooted my phone and started over with the Twitter widget and it works fine. Haven't tried the Friendstream widget again.

Twidroid Pro has a full one but it has button scrolling :-/
to get any scrolling apps you have to find the ones that are optimized for specific home replacements that enable scrolling. Android doesn't support scrolling out of the box and the only reason the HTC app scrolls is because sense enables it.

Also I read that the official Twitter app is real power hungry, one of the worst battery use offenders. I used Twitroid Pro on my Droid and loved it.

Is there an app that updates twitter and Facebook from one entry point?

I also use Peep for the sole reason of the widget. I haven't been able to find anything that compares to it. But I've had my fair share of problems with it too. Occasionally no tweets show up in my widget (fix posted below) and a lot of the times I get a mention, I will get a notification EVERY time my tweets refresh (30 minutes). This usually lasts for 1-2 days. And the tweets that do that never show up in the list of all my mentions. Any ideas on how to fix that?

FriendStream will do that for you. You can update both Twitter and Facebook statuses in one entry.

I've had that problem a few times too. What has worked for me is going into settings and logging out, then logging back in. Clearing the cache hasn't worked for me.

The official Twitter has a half page widget. (and a 1/4 page) Looks similar to HTC's but better.

I just downloaded the Twitter app and couldn't find any widgets for it. Am I missing something?
