• After 15+ years, we've made a big change: Android Forums is now Early Bird Club. Learn more here.
On the right side of the main page, the Android Market box. Put a User Group section below it with the groups the logged in user belongs to.

EDIT: Added a very bad picture for the idea.

Ok so, just to straighten me out here and make sure we're clear.

You mean like a separate box under marketplace that tells you what groups your in? For example, for you it would say Moderator, for joe shmoe it would say Registered Users.

?

And in that same box, it would list new posts, or at least how many new posts, a clickable link that would take you to your "new posts" page?

We are NOT talking about modifying the Android Marketplace box itself, with new apps/posts in there, right? (because that is something we've thought about)

Edit: OOOH, I see now. I like that idea. However I have sorta been toying with trying to convince Rob that the right column is a bad idea period - considering it's current (lack of) function and the space it takes up. Ever seen what this site looks like 1024 X 768? But your idea would give the column more purpose.

Anyway.. I like where you're going with that. Maybe it would work okay on the left column as well.

No. The user groups. 4th tab on top nav. I'm a member of the XBox 360 and PS3 groups, so it would show those 2.

Shows if there have been new posts in the user groups that I am a part of since the last time I visited.

No, not that. Good idea, though.

I love the idea and asked the designer dude about this but he didn't know of an easy way to make it happen. I will try and do some digging myself.

Right now I'm just using basic sidebars but I may have to move to vbAdvanced because they offer some more advanced (duh) sidebar features. Although I'm reluctant to because I think that often causes some plugins to conflict with eachother.

I'm open to solutions if you guys can find something better/quicker than I can. http://vbulletin.org is always a good starting place.
