Anyone else have this happen? If I try to delete a thread that has a shit ton of texts, the screen will freeze up, turn black, tell me its not responding in which I force close but the screen just stays black. I have to restart my phone every time I try to delete it. My girlfriend just broke up with me so I would like to not see her texts on my phone  lol.

I have this problem, my work around is AutoDeleteSMS Free
Runs once per day and deletes all texts prior to a specific day range. Deletes them almost instantly.

Haven't seen any negative impact since installing this the other day.

If you uninstall Hancent and reinstall how can you restore personalization settings?

The OP doesn't want to set a delete rule for his texts, he just wants to delete a single text message thread between him and his ex.

As far as the settings, i believe that Handcent saves your configuration to the sdcard so that when you reinstall it will restore your custom settings, i could be wrong though.

I would just use the stock messaging app to delete the thread, this way you can at least rule out that its not a problem with having a message thread that has over 1000 messages.

I got it deleted, took forever. I wonder if its just because its such a large thread that it gets hung up. Ill uninstall and reinstall the newer one and see if that helps.although ill have to wait to rack up so many texts lol. If i install the new version from the website will I still be able to update through the market. (assuming that it will eventually work)?
