How to reboot

How do you reboot.
I seem to have lost the original home screen and I'd like it back.

Will it return on a reboot or reset?
Will I have to reinput my email settings etc?

Been waiting a long time for Desire but totally new to smartphones and Android.
Upgrading from a Nokia and a Palm T5

Help much appreciated.

Here's a reliable - but admittedly slightly long-winded - way of rebooting your phone:

1. Go to CPW to complain that the bozo who sold you the phone supplied it with a 2G SIM
2. Irritate the hell out of a snotty-nosed sales lad, who would rather be making his commission on a Saturday afternoon.
3. Watch in horror as he rips the back off with no warning and pulls the battery out, quick as you like.

Done!

Or hold the power / button switch on the top of the handset in for a few seconds then select shutdown. Once the handset has shutdown, you can press the power switch / button again for it to boot back up.

Let us know if this fixes the problem.

thanks for telling me how to reboot but the "home screen" I was looking for is still not there.

It was the default one that came with the Desire when I first turned it on.

Did you try my suggestion?

Just tried it and it worked was the HTC scene.

Thanks so much.

Another question please.

I have 2 email accounts: gmail and a normal pop3.
When I hit "mail" I go to my pop3 account and there seems to be no way to access the gmail account.

Actually where I am I cannot get gmail on either my laptop or Desire.
I do want to try the market before I leave U.K. as it might be more limited at home.

Thanks

If you signed into gmail on your phone, when you turned it on / set it up, gmail defaults to the Google Mail application rather than the htc/android mail.

You can set it up in mail too though. I have done this where I can't download specific attachments in the google mail app.

Hope this helps.

I really can't understand the mentality of people like you. Somehow if you don't know how to use something, you automatically revert to attacking other people in the quest for answers to your problem.

1) 2g sims don't exist off the shelf anymore. They were phased out years ago. So how could one be supplied with the Desire!!

2) What makes u think that irritating people actually gets u closer to your own personal goal of getting something rectified?
It actually works against you.
And for the record they don't make commission anymore. Commission was axed 12months ago, so you need to stop making that preconception.

3) Probably a reaction to you talking to him like he's a piece of crap stuck to the bottom of your shoe. (see point 2)
