Root What up with the "Restored Apps" in 2.2?

So, I download and installed Koush's Froyo Rom in ROM Manager. After I logged into my google account, and everything sync'd down, i got a message in the notification bar saying "35 apps restored" wtf? My apps didn't get restored when I went from DroidMod 1.0, wiped everything, and then went to CyanogenMod 5.0.7.1 with a full wipe of 2.1.

Is this a new feature of 2.2?

No, this is a function of your Google acct sync. Sometimes it just doesn't work or if you install something from the market before it has a chance to restore and interrupts the process. It can be a little finicky but it works well for the most part.

You should be thankful! It's a feature of google, and it usually just restores partial apps, and alot of times it ain't that many. And also, I have seen quite a few people on here that are having problems with either restoring their apps like that, or problems with the market altogether with froyo so far.. So count ur blessings. :)

G - if you didn't install them from Market, then the autorestore feature will not restore them. Even if they are market apps, until you get the install / update from Market, it is not going to register as a downloaded and installed app - at least that has been my experience.

With 150+ apps installed, about 10 are not from Market - from SlideMe, from other sources, like the Swype beta, and thus those never get reinstalled - but I expect that.

I agree with what you're saying...but it doesn't always work that way. There were 4 or 5 apps that didn't restore for me on my last install. Titanium didn't restore this past time (although it has previously). I have the paid version and after I downloaded and installed it...it worked fine, but it didn't do it on its own. BTW, this was after I received the notification that my apps had been restored.

Hmm, interesting. I am almost tempted to make a backup, then wipe everything and do a virgin install and see what happens....

Also, for the protected apps blocking - doe it block them even if you already have the app installed?

After all, I think ROM Manager premium is a protected app, and I have it installed, but it shows in market.
