'EVO' Game Changer!!!!!

The EVO phone can act as a Wi-Fi hotspot, an access point to which up to eight other devices can connect.

Is this a game changer?
Does iPhone4 have this capability?
(Can I remotely connect my iTouch to EVO and call using Skype?)

Any phone updated to android 2.2 will also have the mobile hotspot feature.

Great..... that certainly makes Android 2.2 a game changer...and guess what, if you still want the iphone experience on everything(including apps) other than phone (which is not great anyway with AT&T), you can get yourself an iTouch. This may be a cheaper package. And as and when the Android apps catch up, you can send the used iTouch to a hall of fame...

IMHO the Evo would be perfect if it had the following:

1. If its giant screen was LED instead of LCD;
2. If it had the 8GB of internal memory found on the Incredible;
3. If it got rid of the physical buttons and replaced them by touch pad ones;
4. If it had better battery life
5. If it had HTC sense disabled (or gave you the ability to disable it;
6. If it already came with FroYo (and ran stock android); and
7. If it was available from other carriers.

Keep everything else as is and you will have the gold standard by which all current smart phones would be measured.

3. My mistake, I was looking at an HD2 which is ver similar and got the buttons confused.

5. I read here that that was the case on most HTC phones, but not onthe EVO. There is a thread about this somewhere in here.

Depends on what you mean by the phrase. It's certainly not the first nor the last to offer the feature. I doubt it, by itself, will make the masses drop the iPhone either.

Why would you want physical volume keys?

Because I prefer to be able to adjust the volume with physical keys.

Why would you assume that everyone else prefers what you prefer?

Physical keys will always be more ergonomical. If I'm fumbling in the dark to turn down my phones volume, how are you supposed to do that without a physical button

Wouldnt you still be able to see the phone? The trash can is dark, phone screen lights up, you call 911. Unless for some reason she wasnt physically able to get the phone to her face?

Once the Galaxy S reaches the 102+ countries planned, it will be a game changer hardware wide.

Hopefully Samsung supports it and that horrible UI can be turned off.

BUT I don't think iPhone 4 or Evo matches those hardware specs.

I am never buying a samsung phone again. Just this board alon is riddled with too many complaints on everyone of their devices, and they aren't small flaws/nitpicks either.

Leaving out the iPhone, I have to say it is:

Galaxy S > EVO in terms of hardware specs
and
EVO > Galaxy S in terms of future upgrades/customer support.

The only thing EVO has over Galaxy is Screen size. Everything else is better on Galaxy S. GPU, Better screen, Real HD with various codec support (not just what is standard on base Android).

I think Iowa was factoring in everything. When the Moment came out, it had top notch hardware and he owns one of those. But yeah, purely hardware, Galaxy S is a game changer.

Yeah it is an overall outlook. What good is the hardware when samsung can't code to save its life?

And a quick fyi: it has been outed on engadget that the processor in the a4 is the same exact processor in the iP4
