So I know you people only like to hear positive feedback about the Evo but holy macaral have I haroblems.First of all I convinced my wife to switch our service to Sprint from US Cellular after having no issues with USCC. Basically we switched because I wanted the Evo and she obliged. She isn't someone who really cares about what kind of phone she has just as long as it works. She has had a razor for years. So when I got my Evo she got a Samsung Instinct (cheap junk but she likes it). Both phones drop calls constantly! After always having least 4 bars with USCC now we are lucky to have one bar.She is pissed and I am kind of disappointed.I want to keep my phone but if the service doesn't improve how can I? Plus we are lying 50 dollars more with insurance. Now to my phone. Internet on 3g (since I don't live in a 4g area) only works half of the time.WiFi doesn't work at all because the all the signals are too weak.next it freezes up least 30 times day. I also get various error messages all the time. I even went as far as resetting the phone.Maybe I just got a lemon.Hopefully things improve soon or I will be forced to switch back to USCC:/

yea it sounds like you did get a lemon. I only have 1-2 bars inside my house and a few other places but its because they are made of stone and signals have a hard time moving through it.

I live in an only 3g area and my 3g web browsing is pretty darn fast.

Sorry to hear of your problems, maybe try a factory restart or exchange the phone for another. Hope it all works out for you

since both your and your wife (EVO and Instinct) have bad services... I am going to guess you live in a hole with little coverage.

Have you tried it while out and about town?? was it any better??

if the phones dont get service..that is why the evo is locking up.. my guess!

if around town and you are getting better service and better performance from your phones. You might want to talk to spring about installing a Rave Repeater. I have seen them do this this for others and not charge for the device or the service.

Other than that... Sprint may not be a good fit for your needs. SORRY!

How is Verizon in your area? The Incredible is a very nice phone and VERY similar to the EVO.

Yup, and if Verizon doesn't work we've got you covered!

T-mobile good in your area? Go with the Nexus One.

You wouldn't want to go with a backstabbing company like Att (2gb/mo data cap) so I didn't even include them as a viable option ;)

Life ain't so bad once you learn to move on...

How in the bell was I supposed to know Sprint would suck this bad? I asked people I knew they said it was fine. The illusions at the Sprint store told me people in my town all have good service.Basically I have only heard good things.AT&T was supposed to.be the shit carrier otherwise I would have waited for the new iPhone to switch from USCC. Yes I have tried the phone and internet in.other parts of.town. So how would I go.about using Verizon's signal. Thanks for all your help:)

It really does not sound like sprint is going to be goo for you. I think you should go back to your old carrier. Sorry. But you just might live in a cell dead zone. Your evo will switch to verizon towers if it has to. But it sounds like you just have very poor coverage. Your best bet is to go back. Sorry, but sprint is really good in almost every way, but if they dont have coverage, you are just out of luck.

No I am referring to what the previous poster posted about using Verizon's 3g signal. Thanks for the smartass reply though:)

How in the world is a smart ass reply. You state that you are getting bad coverage. Time to hang it up and move on. Some times, it will just not work out. You are getting bad coverage. If verizon had good coverage, you evo would use that signal. It is not. So you can not get verizon or sprint. Att will just sucks. So you are suck back to the original provider. Sorry that is the truth.

Your first and worst mistake was choosing a carrier that has poor coverage in your area. No killer handset will make up for crap service. Find a carrier that covers your area and then choose your phone from their lineup.

Amen. Always choose your carrier first. It just so happened that my family was planning a switch to Sprint right when the EVO was going to come out. If we were planning to switch to VZW instead, I would have an Incredible or Droid then.

Riveroffice I wasn't referring to your post guy. you posted while I was typing.I was responding to the smartass that said "buy a Verizon phone".You were helpful but I think I'm pretty much stuck with this phone and service.

Sprint's new 30 day return/refund policy will cover your situation. Hopefully you will find someone with service in your area..I'd go Verizon HTC Incredible.

I've been having the same exact issues as you. I even spoke with people in my apartment complex who also have Sprint but are using old/cheap flip phones and they get plenty of signal. My Evo, on the other hand, gets zero bars inside my apartment and one or two outside. I live in Houston right off a major interstate, so coverage should be superb.

I'm off to pick up a replacement phone from Best Buy in a few minutes. We'll see if it makes a difference.
