Got 50% taken off my Activation Fee

So, I just called Sprint and told them I was told I could get my Activation Fee waived, the guy who answered said he couldn't waive the whole fee but he gave me 50% off. Better than nothing. Anyone have any luck getting it completely waived?

FYI, Sprint charges $5 extra to your monthly bill if you don't use Auto-Pay I just figured that out. So before you pay your bill you can set up Auto-Pay online.

When I bought mine @ Best Buy and I got to the point where I identified myself to the Sprint rep on the phone (and told them my pin), I told the Sprint rep I heard it is being waived for new customers. He asked if Best Buy said that, I said I wasn't sure (didn't want to lie). I said I heard it online and he just up and waived it right then and there for me. :D

Grr! When I called over the weekend the woman told me she could waive it, but only after the bill was posted... Which got posted today. I'll try to call back today and see if someone else will do it, lol

Edit: Just got mine completely taken off, I just kept saying Radioshack said it was free. But damn, she wouldn't give me the student discount. I'm going to call back and talk to someone else, lol.

yes u can get a student discount. if the customer service rep wont do it. nicely ask to speak with the manager. if not try again. iv had great luck when nicely asking for a manager and explaining your case.

dang you must have bad luck with customer service. the guy who said he couldn't fully waive your activation fees is lying. these customer service reps can be really flexible if they wanted to. and i don't understand why she wouldn't give you the discount. you can also apply for it online, if you can't get any reps to give it to you.

i've pretty much had my way so far with sprint since i switched from at&t, so i'm happy with them. sorry to hear you're not getting the same treatment.

and also, student discounts vary according to which school you go to. Some i've heard as low as 10%, and as high as 20+%, but most are 15%.

Been a weird bill for sprint for me, got my upgrade waived(premier), 25 dollar credit for getting error code 67, 70 dollar credit I read about here on forums and a 35 dollar credit for bill mistakes from a previous bill
