I've been getting random reboots ever since I updated to froyo. It's been happening since the first nandroid backup, the nexfro, and Pete's Bugless Beast

The phone works completly fine and fast but it will just reboot out of nowhere.
It doesn't happen on the charger
If I restore to one of my 2.1 roms it doesn't do it
It even happens while i'm on a phone call
It doesn't seem to have a pattern of when it happens it seems really random

Any help would be appreciated

I have also been getting a lot of reboots since going to Froyo (haven't tried BB yet). But started trying different Kernals and I believe I have finally settled on P3's 250 - 1000. I know every phone seems to react differently to kernals, but I would recommend you try different ones and see if you can get it to operate better. My random reboots seems to have stopped as well as other odd stuff like freezing up while in the browser or ADW FC'ing. Much happier now. :D

I always got random reboots with 2.1. I haven't experienced any with Froyo... yet. I'm running the 1.1 GHz (labeled 1.25 GHz from the original source for 2.2 kernels) and have been good with it besides degraded battery life over Chevys 1.1 GHz LV kernel I was running with NexBeast 1.0.1 (2.1). Does anyone know if Chevy has made any kernels that work with 2.2 so I can hopefully get my good batter life back?

This is going to be hard to test, honestly.

As soon as you sign in, go to Market, and then pick an app and install, and it should stop (according to other people) the automatic install.

Or, when signing in to your Google account, after signing in, uncheck backup your settings.

If you don't want to sign in at all, skipping the sign in will prevent it from happening without interrupting the install and without erasing the saved data, so you can alter go back and install the ROM again and it will work then.

Without signing in you obviously cannot use the phone for anything Google related, but you can still then flash the kernel and see if the phone will reboot on its own when doing things like navigating through your menus, the app drawer, etc.

Yet another way would be to perform a factory reset, but that will force you to manually install all your apps again, so if you do not have a Titanium Backup / MyBackup backup, then you'll have to install them all by hand.

Have you tried making a backup, then wiping and installing FroYo again and not restoring your apps?

I think it might be an app incompatibility....

I think its working... I did the triple wipe and it didn't install all my apps just some of them but it hasn't rebooted yet. So im just going to reinstall apps try to figure out which one it was.

I have been experiencing this as well since day one of the nandroid release. Seems to run stable for a few hours and then starts random soft reboots, no matter what release/nandroid/rom i use. If its froyo it reboots.

I have noticed it more frequently at work, ( work = big metal building ) im thinking it could possibly be GPS related or signal related? Currently testing that, I will have more to add later. My other running theory is it happens more when in the holster, which has magnetic clasp, sometimes I trigger those when pulling the phone out, wondering if it is an error launching car mode or dock mode. Although I usually have it in the holster when I am at work so that may just be theory #1. I dunno, it isnt extremely frustrating and it is usually very quick.

May just be a JIT/ Hardware QA thing, I have also played with kernels and kernel speeds with no obvious fix. Anyone else have any experience with this?

I had froyo on from when it was first discovered and had three random reboots. They all occured when I was closiong the hardware keyboard under while i was asking a lot from the phone. it's not the official release, so I didn't get so concerned. I figure in a little while both the official release and the roms will be more stable, but this is stable enough for me to work with.

I have been the same problem and I think I figured out. Initially I thought it was the kernel so I kept switching them to no avail. Then i thought it was a specific app so I erased all of them. So mine usually reboots at the 30-45 mins mark and I went back to the 2.2 froyo and didn't install a theme from ROM manager and no reboots. For some reason it wont let you change the ROM without the constant reboots. So I am now using ugly stock but hey hasn't rebooted in hours. Hope this helps.
