Camera needs serious fixes

Anyone else not pleased with the camera? It's fine in super bright outdoor conditions, but if you even attempt to use that flash, it's all over. Images are so overexposed it doesn't even look like Sprint/HTC tested the thing... and oddly, with the flash, it is nearly impossible to get a picture that isn't blurry. When I turn the flash off the dark picture, albeit very dim, is perfectly clear compared to the one taken with the flash.

And the flash button basically does what it wants. I can press it 10 times and it will maybe change the flash setting once.

I hope they address this in a very-soon update to the phone.

Mine must have issues. Every night shot I've taken with the camera and flash is both overexposed (to the point where people's faces are pure white) and blurry.

So if you guys tap the flash button, it immediately switches between auto/on/off? I hit it and when I hit it again, I have to wait at least 10 seconds before it will respond.

And I'm a photographer! lol

these are taken with flash on indoors and under car. I would say they are prtty damn good for a camera phone. (linked from facebook)

Imma gonna try the 200 ISO trick. Makes sense that it might fix the over-saturation on the camera. As for blurry pictures, you think it'd have the opposite effect, but I will give it a shot!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! (This is so the Hero when it came out... apply little tweaks until they release a fix)

Is image quality something that can be improved with software updates? I'm inclined to think not but just hoping. The image quality isn't as good as the iphone 4, same with video. Probably not enough to return the EVO but it would be nice if it were better.

Well, there's image quality from poor components, and then there's image quality issues from bad settings. The latter can be fixed. If the settings of the phone's camera or ISO are incorrectly metered when using the flash, then they can rewrite the code for it. Just like the Droid's date rounding issue causing an issue with the auto-focus until they found a fix for it. No, I'm not kidding....
