Two questions from an Evo noob.

Just got my evo yesterday. Have two "issues" that I can't resolve.

1.) When sending text messages is it possible to view people from only one contact group? I have about 60 real people in my google contacts (all in "phone" group), and over 200 various emails. When selecting a person to call, only the "phone" group shows up. But when i'm selecting people to text message every single email from my gmail contacts shows up, making it very difficult to find the people I'm looking for. Is it possible to set it up so only the "phone" group shows up for texting?

2.) When I go to About->Battery->Bettery Use, 92% of my usage is the Camera. I'm still getting pretty good battery life, but I haven't used the camera since the middle of yesterday. Is there a reason it's still such a big percentage of my battery usage?

Thanks. Otherwise great phone.

Just got my Evo so I am not sure about the answer to your first question. But for your second question, maybe that battery usage info is cached and a reboot would clear that. Not sure but worth a try I suppose.

I downloaded Battery Usage Pro to tell me what percentage I had left. Some one posted this: Dial *#*#4636#*#* into the phone dialer. Once you put in the last # sign, a screen will pop up. I pressed the arrow for Battery information and that's where I found the same percentage that I was getting from Battery Usage Pro.

Also, how do I check the remaining battery percent? I've done it a bunch of times yesterday, but can't find it any more.

Download the app "BatteryLife". It gives a pretty accurate reading of Percentage left as a Widget that you can put on one of your 7 screens.

The camera may have been listed at 92% battery usage because .. technically .. the usage reads since the phone was unplugged and used. If it was unplugged for 10 hours, and 2 of those hours you used the camera while the other 8 hours it basically idled, most of the battery that was used probably came from the camera.

I recommend downloading SystemPanel. (Search it in Market). I believe it may become something to pay for in July, but for now, it is free so you can try it out. In SystemPanel, you can set it to Monitor so you will see a graph of your CPU usage, how quickly your battery depletes..etc As well, it is also an "Individual Task Killer" which means you can kill an App one at a time. Perfect for when you run programs like the Camera, or a Game that doesn't have an "Exit". This way, you aren't ending all programs like most task killers generally do .. so if you fear that you are using your battery up by having your camera on in the background, you can just go into System Panel (It shows you everything currently running, and idling) .. Press whichever program you want, shows details about that program, how much memory it is using, and the option to End that Task.

Hope this helps with Question #2 :) Regards to question 1, my guess is probably some SMS applications out there may allow you to text by group, but I use chompSMS and I have yet to see such an option.

Here is a screenshot of my main screen on my phone that shows the "BatteryLife" Widget. Personally, it's the best one I have used to date.
You can also see the "SystemPanel" monitoring icon in the top tray as well.
