Help YAY, EVO has same CRAPPY build quality as Hero - Dust under glass

Light leak around front casing, dust issues....

The build quality sucks, I have dust under the glass in the upper left corner. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that HTC can't place a priority on build quality.

I traded my Hero with dust for an Evo with dust. Oh the joy.

It's really no surprise, if light escapes from the sides, why wouldn't dust enter through the same area....

Before you reply with 'I don't have dust,' make sure you examine very very closely, with a very bright light to be sure. I was the first on this forum to call attention to the Hero's dust issue, and was greatly flamed for it at first, too.

The phone's haven't even been out a week, so this issues will not be very noticeable yet (as with the Hero) but will become accepted as fact soon enough.

How can HTC made (and they make a lot) products expect to compete with the likes of Apple in terms of build quality if they still struggle with simple sealing issues?

...HTC should just spend a bit more on build materials. I'd gladly pay more for the EVO if it was made better.

Iphones get dust under the screen also. It happens to all smartphones no matter who makes it.

If I gotta search my screen with a "very bright light" just to be able to see dust under my screen, then I could care less if the shit is in there! Jesus, some of you people look for shit to bitch about!

Really? It's so silly to me that manufacturers struggle with this. All they have to do is seal the LCD panel to the front glass...simple, really.

I guess I should ask this question: is it acceptable to have any amount of dust, at all, under the display?

My answer would be: no, absolutely not, any dust at all, is unacceptable.

It's because the phone is so new...wait 3 months or so, you'll see it plain as day, you'll get nice shadows when web browsing, try and wipe the screen and go, 'oh crap, i can't wipe that off' so yeah, I bitch early, because once you notice it, you wont be able to return/exchange it.

Keep in mind when you guys open/close the battery panel, dust will be trapped and work its way into the front of the phone (under the glass). The more you open that back panel, the more dust will enter.
It's entering from the front, just like the Hero.

Looks like I'll have to make a thread on how to dis-assemble the EVO just like the Hero. Too bad HTC's instruction manual doesn't cover 'Internal cleaning procedure' lol.

Again, if you have dust under your screen return it...get another one or get a different phone...I'm sure you have 30 day or less..

How about you try to manufacture something and then you can figure out the super secret way to make things PERFECT without any sort of manufacturing defect. I'll wait .

In the history of man, there has never been a product ever made without some kind of defect. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. If you're unsatisfied, then just move along.

QFT.....If its not noticeable under normal conditions, i dont give a crap.....I had a buddy who obsessed over his iphone screen....under halogen lights, he could see hairline scratches and it pissed him off......In every other light, you couldnt see them.....

trust me you don't want them doing that. It would cost a ton of money to repair the phone if it broke. You want to be able to replace the screen digitizer and LCD separately and keep cost cheap.
