Help Anyone return an Evo because the bottom screen is separating

Hmm this does not surprise me.. coming from a HTC Touch Pro. We TP users had soooo many issues with the build quality and it NEVER got better. It got so bad with returns that Sprint phased it out quickly and started giving us TP2s as replacements. The Sprint tech I dealt with every 2-3 months to fix my on-going keyboard issues said they knew about the issues and so does HTC but HTC refuses to provide a fix, so they were just bombing HTC with defective ones until they did something about them. I eventually got a 4th HTC TP, which is refurbed and doesn't have the keyboard issues anymore, but the home/back/call/hangup buttons are not flush with the screen.

:\ Welcome to HTC world.

its reasons like these is the reason we need a program that backs up EVERYTHING so if we get a new phone its quick and easy to get back up and running

and not needing to recustomize

i suppose just wait till HTC makes a statement or something so u dont need to argue with sales reps wherever you go to return and replace

those were widespread incidents on the Hero, but mostly I was just saying how laughable it was to see someone say they felt the Hero was better build quality.

That was kinda my point, I think it's laughable that someone says the evo is better build than the hero.
It's just all a matter of what problems we have, not everyone is affected with the same problems.:)

Edit:
Also been on hold with HTC for 20mins.

I just spoke with a Radioshack rep I have been dealing with and this apparently is a known issue by Sprint and HTC and according to his contacts is effecting approximately 80% of the EVO's. They will do a exchange once they get more EVO's but can not guarantee I will not have the same issue with the replacement. He compared the issue to the oreo effect on the Palm Pre. This sucks!

sorry to hear others are having issues with there EVO. I got mine from Best Buy on the 4th. I also added the Geek Squad insurance and as soon as I got the phone I put on a protective clear skin on the front and back as well as a case. So far I haven't seen any issues, but I will keep an eye out for it. Hope anyone having this issue can get this solved as quickly and easily as possible. Please keep us updated on this.

Well I got that insurance with best buy, were if something goes wrong i just bring it back and they give me a brand new 1 in the box. It's just a pain to have to do that all the time.

Only in the first 30 days. After 30 days they send your phone in and you will never see it again. What a mess that system is. I asked a mobile manager friend about it and he said BB just doesn't have enough market share to push (enter cell company here) to get the phones back faster.

Example: My palm pre volume button wasn't working so i brought it in even though it was still covered under sprint. I thought they would just swap it out but nope. They mailed it into palm and 30 days of "waiting for parts" later I still didn't have a phone. The only reason I was happy in the end is because I got lucky. If they have your phone for more then 30 days they credit you back the full price of the phone you can use either for a new phone of the same model or any other phone. My 30 days happen to come up last tuesday and I showed up friday morning and snagged myself an EVO. In the end I got an evo for a clean $85 without having to wait another 18mo for an upgrade (which is why I'm on the BB program for the evo too). My gf however had a broken power button on her pre and brought it to sprint, the tech took off the cover, fixed the power button, and handed it back in 10 min.

You people cry when the screen isn't bright enough, now when you see a little light escaping from the sides you freak out. It's like some of you can't ever be satisfied. Why don't you (the people complaining) go develop a smart phone. The only problem I have with my Evo is battery life and that's a conundrum for all smartphones.

Light is a symptom of the problem

not the problem.

Not enough adhesiveness sounds like the problem, leaving it more susceptible to dirt and dust and the overall condition of the phone

Well top bitching about the battery, mine is fine. The problem is that dust will get under the screen and really screw things up.

Very insightful post, I think you have solved all our problems:rolleyes:

I never stated that light leakage was a problem, it's the screen separating.

80% seems like an excessively high stat. Either way, returning an EVO at this point will likely net you a device with the same problem.

Just called up sprint and told them of my problems and they are sending me a new phone right out. The best part is I only have to send back the phone, get to keep the battery, charger, and SD card.:D
Now if this one is the same I will just return it altogether and wait till something else comes out.:(
