Root Wired Tether

I was able to get wireless tether to work on my rooted EVO, but for some reason I can't get the wired tether found here android-wired-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code
to work. I installed HTCsync and the specified driver, but when I switch it to internet sharing I get "Error code 67. Registration failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect"

Has anybody else gotten wired tether to work?

PDANET.....Don't know if there is an app other than that. Is working for me but it will block https sites after 14 days unless you buy a key.

I have it working on Windows 7 64-bit. The instructions below include a link to the ADB drivers for Win 7/Vista 64-bit. I am not sure if you need the drivers for other windows versions...

I am not rooted, I have stupidly downloaded the latest OTA, and I do not have $30 tethering plan...

1. Enable USB Debugging in Settings --> Applications --> Development
2. Download EVO ADB drivers to your computer. Win Vista/7 64-bit drivers are at Deposit Files
3. Extract the drivers into a folder so you can manually assign them as the drivers later.
4. Plug in your EVO via USB, select Internet Sharing or whatever the options called.
5. Windows 7 should fail to install the drivers...
6. Manually select the drivers for this device... Point it to the ADB drivers folder you made in step 3.
7. Unplug your EVO and plug it in again to see if it works...

**Step 6 is kinda vague, I used Device Manager in windows to update the driver for the ADB device. You may be able to use the 'failed to install drivers' dialog in order to point to your ADB drivers...

my evo is not rooted and I get the same error when I try to tether with my evo, but I am using Ubuntu 10.04. when I connect the phone to the laptop and hit internet sharing ubuntu automatically configures the usb port for data connection, but when the phone tries to initialize the data session I get the error. BUT if I power on wireless on the evo and try it again, the evo uses the wifi for the internet and my laptop gets internet.

I am not rooted and Wired tethering started working for me after the OTA update, so far I only tried it on my windows vista laptop.

1. Enable USB Debugging in Settings --> Applications --> Development
2. Plug in your EVO via USB, select Internet Sharing.
3. Unplug your EVO and plug it in again to see if it works...
