How can i hide an app from the app drawer?

In the threads i read and searched for they all said it can be done with root access, but no one ever says how it can be done.

As a side note, I still want to have access to the app using keyboard shortcuts.

I have tried home replacement apps, but they are so unstable. I also tried "App Vault", but this doesnt let you access the app while it is hidden.

Can anyone help me please?

I'm not sure how you would go about hiding them. You may want to try an app called App Manager which allows you to make custom folders, shortcuts, widgets for organizing your applications. I rarely go into my app drawer because the 100+ apps in there is a mental overload. Especially since they are alphabetized, and I am always thinking of the name slightly incorrectly...

You can also just create folders on the home screens but with that method I am unsure how to rename them.

Get Super Manager. The Android Market only has the free 'Lite' version. There are instructions in the program on how to get the Pro version, which is needed to hide apps. It costs $8, and is a bit convoluted to register but the developer is very responsive, and it does a TON more than just hiding apps so $8 is worth it. I upgraded and tried it with no issues on my Evo.

I use an application called Hide It Pro. It will password protect pictures, videos, and yes, even applications. What's even more convenient is in the app drawer this app is called "Audio Manager" and if you open it you can slide "volume" buttons. You have to hold down on the "Audio Manager" title on the screen and it will allow you to put in a password. Of all the hiding programs I have found this one to work best for me.
