Accessories OtterBox News!!

Yeah people starting posting about it this morning. I'm super psyched. I had just e-mailed them yesterday in hopes they'd make one!

whats the advantage of otterbox?

Check our their website (otterbox.com I think). They make really good hard cases. Some are a little lighter weight and some are super rugged. Just well built high quality cases. Much better than your run of the mill mall kiosk hard cases.

when it came out for the iphone the reps at att stores would have their PERSONAL phones with it on and throw it against the wall to convince you it really did what they advertised. this is the defender series of course. you have to literally try very hard to break the phone/screen with it on.

otterbox cases > all else IMO, build quality and security are TOP NOTCH. ill be getting a commuter and defender case.

can someone explain what the difference is between the three different styles they offer?

the impact series is just a little bit stronger than your average silicone case. with thick bits where it counts for protection and then thin everywhere else for cosmetic. this is the one you want if you are not into a big beefy phone(girls likely)

the commuter series is even thicker than the impact also the impact does not have port and button flaps. the commuter does. so this one assumes you work and your phone could actualy drop....

The Defender series (my favorite) looks almost like it was made to see war. the defender combines all possable protective structures. you have a hard plastic shell on the inside, usualy with a built in screen protector. this shell gives it a rigid structure usualy there is padding on the inside of this structure who conforms to the shape of the device, just beyond the shell you have what i think would be a rubber exterior. just like the regular silicone skins this just gets stretched over the plastic shell and conforms to it. mean while you have the rubber doos for all your ports and buttons. filters to your speakers and microfone and sometimes included is a clip-on holder(eeewww clip-on). this is the case that says"yeah i am a man, and i work hard"

there's already a thread for this lol

Funny, because I made sure to search for a similar thread before starting this one and no dice.. Just a lot of threads of people asking, wondering, and screaming about when OtterBox was going to announce anything for the EVO. Just wanted to be helpful and post a link to their recent announcement.

are these as bulky as they seem?

Yes, definitely as far as the Commuter and Defender Series. Which I'm not all too sure they will produce a Defender considering none of the other HTC phones have one produced. All of that aside, OtterBox is your ultimate choice in thoroughly protecting your phone bar none!

I personally work in the construction industry. I know a few people in my line of work with the Defender series (iPhone). They all swear by it, I even know a guy who dropped his in a bucket of water. Pulled it out really fast, and not a damn leak (allegedly).

To answer your question YES, it's bulky. But in a I really don't need to worry about screwing up my phone way.. Adds a lot of peace of mind when your constantly exposing it to dust and moisture. The up side is OtterBox designs are made to be easily removed that way when your not at work you can let it breathe!

edit: and we have ~1 month until they roll out along with other reputable case makers such as Incipio and Case Mate. yes, if you didn't know, they're also making cases for our device.

d00d, did you not check out your own link or something? haha
they're releasing the Impact, Commuter and Defender Series cases. and i'm aware that it says to check which one you're interested in to be notified, but i spoke to a rep and they're releasing all 3. the "check to be notified" is just for if you're only interested in one, two, or all so you know when they get them in.

Forums search isn't 100% useful without tags.. :p didn't bother looking at "page 3" when I didn't see anything similar (call me lazy). Sorry for the double post.

I know what you're saying. I work in the Fire Dept and there are a ton of guys who swear by the Defender series. They had one guy, when you'd ask him if his case was good, he'd toss his phone and let it fall to the ground. He did that about 2 times a week for a few months.

Yeah, I'm going Defender! I hope they release it soon...we may need people to sign up for updates!

realisticly this device requires the defender. if you are dainty with little hands, well then you have the wrong phone in the first place. because simply by itself this thing is gargantuan. it fits excelently in my manly hands! :p but with all of that real-estate follows a lot of opportunity for disaster. so beef beef beef. i am a bidy builder as a hobby and too much potential for it to get squeezed or pressed somewhere or rub up against something!

LOL smashed my last pre before getting the EVO by setting up some 100lb dumbbells on why legs getting ready to bench press. Just for clarification I am not that guy answering his phone is the gym, I was listening to a little pandora.

proof of concept! of course 100lb dumbbells is a little bit beyond me! :p but anything can happen with heavy wieght, big heavy moving parts and pounds blood filled muscles that arn't sure how strong they are do to a previous stretching!
