Do you think Evo will get 2.2 update soon ?

yea deff and HTC seems to always be on the ball with updates

lol, tell that to Hero owners. We waited over 6 months........Hopefully HTC will realize that if they want to keep up with motorola who seems to be pushing updates like it's no one's business, they really need to support their phones and get updates out quicker. Same goes for Sprint though.

take it from me who had a cliq for the past six months.. motorola is not on top of their game.. well never mind i take that back, when it comes to the droid they deff are (thats their baby).. every other phone they leave hanging.. the cliqs been waiting for months for that 2.1 update, im just glad im getting rid of it.. and also sense probably does cause a delay in updates, so thats why the hero probably took a while, i just hope the same dosent happen to the evo

Sorry I was using the Droid as my example. That really is their baby. I hope HTC sees the EVO as theirs and follows suit.

go the the xda-dev forums and find out for yourselves... I have a ported android 2.2 rom on my Evo, and it runs very fast.

I was under the impression that running the current 2.2. roms on the Evo stopped you using both cameras, 4G, and that WiFi was iffy.

Would love to know if this is not the case ... if 2.2's native hotspot functionality works properly (the standard Sprint Hotspot is highly problematic and unusably slow) I might not have to return the damn thing.

Android 2.2 Features Announced By Google : EVDOinfo.com

Today at the Google IO keynote, Google announced the new features that Android 2.2 code named "Froyo" will introduce. Android 2.2 will be available via update for the super popular Sprint HTC EVO 4G phone this July!

Doesn't "via update" mean as in "not rooted?"

Is this Google's call to make - or HTC's - or Sprint's?

Probably be announced right before the 30 period is up!

Yea honestly...if Sprint is smart they need to do that. Not sure how mayn 30 day "Testers" are out there, but Annoucing 2.2 before it would probably keep alot of users.

Be even smarter if they announced it before iPhone 4 hits, im sure that there are still plenty iPhoners that are on the fence, and maybe would get an EVO that is updated to 2.2.

I say March 2011.

They have to fix security problems. They have to address blocking wifi features for non-paying customers. They have to deal with HTC Sense compatibility and screw down the bluetooth profiles some more (Evo apparently isn't running 2.1 bluetooth... it's running something like 1.6 because Sense isn't compatible with the prior)

You're way off. It'll be here within 6 months. Most likely sooner. If you're rooted, there will be a full functional Froyo soon.
