Help Samsung NPS phone dead after update

Hi, I just got my new Samsung i7500 Galaxy and try to connect to the PC,

First my NPS rel 1.2.0 did not accept the phone, I could see it, I could se virtual disk, but not connet to the phone , NPS said "Not supported phone",
I went to Update NPS, and NPS found rel 1.3.0. IJ1 which I downloaded and installed.
Then phone still not connected. NPS displayed message- "this firmware not supported, only supported function is upgrading firmware", well that was easy go to update in NPS, found new firmware version, and NPS downloaded, copied the old version from the phone to PC, and then uploading new firmware, it went all the way on the PC to 100%! and Success - completed.

However Display on Phone is still showing " Downloading..." and show a blue square icon in display, after 2 hours I took the battery out for 5 minutes and put it back in, and the phone goes back to "downloading " -

I have tried to :

Power off
Hold volume down + call button + end call button

and

Volume down + OK (center of d pad)) + power

But this just "lock the phone in a mode with display off".

any Ideas on how to reset the phone and start on again ? Do I have to turn it in to Samsung?

Hi,

If its gone directly to downloading then the recovery is totally broken. You can fix it easily with Odin tool.

Have a look in the forum for the tutorial on how to use it. Its not very dificult

Thank you for advice on ODIN, it was eay to find and easy to download the tool and sw firmware, Odin can detect the phone - great- however
it seems as something is not right yet.
I start Odin Multi Downloader v3.95.exe
select --> Orion.ops
check one package , Reboot, and protect OPS
and Select one package "I7500O2UIG5-CL40378-O2U.tar"

=> then press START

Odin runs for a sub second and returns the following in the message window:


<1> Added!!!
<1> Detected!!!
<1> odin mode.. check platform verification.
<1> START!!!
<1> odin mode.. do file mapping..
<1> check download environment.
<1> e - big partition size!!
<1> Delete Comm3engine


And then the first sqare in upper left part of the odin screen becomes RED with text "FAIL" , The Samsung I7500 phone has a steady "Downloading.." on the display.

Any advice for a cure?

When I connect the phone to the USB port, it seems to detect the phone
in windows XP pro. I get a device under Universal Serial Bus controllers => SAMSUNG USB Composit Device, and I get
a MODEM => SAMSUNG Mobile Modem #3 ( it must have detected it 2 time before)

If not perhaps a different USB port, long shot though.

try using ii4 which is recent release from o2uk

EDIT Devan you should have taken both from my host and included them in your post
as its now pointless using g8 and ii4 o2uk exists

Hi,

installing NPS and ODIN on another pc made it!
I installed the SW on the new PC and flashed the phone, All seems OK now.

if you want take it and upload it. i have 300 gb of bandwidth tho so im not that bothered
