Deleting individual text messages...?

I couldn't find anything about this by doing a search, but apologies if I am being dim.

On the X10, is it poossible to organise text messages so that they appear in an in box and sent items etc? Mine are showing up by each contact, which is good in a way, but I can't find a way to delete individual messages. It seems that all messages from a contact all form part of one long thread, even if I start a new message to a contact. That means that when I went to delete a message from a contact, the phone deleted all the messages from her. There wasn't anythign of special importance in them, but I'd like to be able to delete single messages.

Is there any way that can be done, please?

Thanks!

I'm guessing you're using the standard Messaging app and pressed Menu > Delete thread. You can delete individual messages by long-pressing on the message you want to delete, and then selecting "Delete message". You can also delete threads by long-pressing on a thread.

Long-pressing (holding your finger on something for more than a second) is used for a lot of things on Android. "When in doubt, long press (it out?)"
