Help zooming in on smaller images on browser causes distortion!

Not sure if anyone noticed this or not but I pointed this out to several people and they immediately noticed as well. When you go to visit a web page and zoom in on a smaller image, the image gets distorted and blurry. Coming from a pre and a berry, I never had this issue so being new to android I am wondering is this a known issue.

Any one else notice it and will froyo or HTC remedy this?

How small? That happens with raster images but maybe the browser is compressing them more. Dunno.

neo, like for instance go to sprint.com and click accessories and zoom in on the silicone sprint cases or body glove cases and tell me if you notice it. It may just me being anal but I definitely notice it lol

those pictures are very small to begin with. go to the same site on your pc and you will see what i mean. you have to click on it, and hit enlarge or more views to get the bigger pictures. the phone isnt making the pictures blurry, its the pictures themselves because they are too small to be blown up.

Not to compare apples (literally) and oranges but how come when I zoom in on the same exact image on my ipod touch it displays clear as crystal. I love my evo and am actually selling my ipod touch bc of how much more the evo can do but a friend of mine who has an iphone pointed this out to me and ever since then it is driving me nuts.

Is there a way to remedy this issue? I pointed it out to several evo owners and they realized it as well.

I'm seeing this too, on both the stock browser and Dolphin HD. It seems to be really bad on text in images.

After some initial searching, it seems like it has something to do with APN settings, but I don't think Sprint phones have APN settings.

Has this ever been resolved? When surfing the same sites w/ my Pre or iPod Touch - zooming in on most images look fine. Zooming on images w/ my EVO look terrible and compressed and digitized.

Anyway to change a setting for it to compress less?

You guys do realize that the resolution of the pre/iPod Touch is much less than the EVO, right? It doesn't need to make the image nearly as large on those other devices.

I think it's just Android compressing the images so they load faster. It happens on my wife's HTC Hero as well. I haven't found a fix or workaround yet, but if anyone else does, by all means, hook us up.

I'm saying when you pinch and zoom in - the resolution of the image on the EVO is -clearly- lower than on the Pre or iPod Touch.

This is a well documented issue on the Android developer forums.

It's up to google/android to fix it.
