The $10 monthly fee is for the hardware for the phone
.

This is what they've said the whole time. This is one guys comments taken out of context because he got Sprints, "richer multimedia because of better hardware" talking points messed up.

Sprint said:
Because the phone has a faster processor, a huge 4.3 inch screen and an 8 megapixel camcorder/camera, we expect you will be using a lot more data than you would with our other devices. These features will give you capabilities that have previously never been available on a wireless device and we think they provide a premium experience.

I confirmed this yesterday with a rep. she said it was a bogus fee and said she will probably get in trouble for saying it. she said that all the sprint reps feel the same way and feel that the fee is not valid for what the phone can do. I was shocked she said it but we were on the phone for a while and I guess she felt comfortable stating what she felt. My original complaint was because of the website that sucks so horribly. She agreed with that too.

The $200.00 price for the phone is to reel you in and then your basically subsidizing the phone price yourself over the 2 years. This was the only way they could compete with the iphone price of $200.00

Guess its time to return it. I've been thinking of getting nexus one anyway.

I have a Nexus One and its a great phone that you will enjoy :)

The flexibility it gives you to buy it unlocked and save money with the $50/mo voice + data (w/ free txt through GV) no contract plan is what is keeping me with T-Mobile so far instead of jumping ship.

I hate the idea of spending $720 more, contract wise, over a 2 year period (even if the N1 is $320 more upfront) I'd much rather just spend more upfront to save $400 over the 2yr period.

We said it once, and will say it again. Don't like it? Don't pay it. Return your phone since it's within 30 days of upgrade it new line purchase, our if you paid retail, sell it. I'm enjoying my evo, could give less of a care about ten dollars, this phone is pimp. Even more happy now that I rooted it.

I've been thinking about T-Mobile. I've heard horror stories about their service though. Also, I hate the idea of buying phones online.
