Will Mytouch 3G 2.1 update have Swype?

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of typing with a touch screen. Can't really blame me, as my old phone was a Sidekick LX, which I was able to type about 50-60 words per minute, with very little error.

Anyways, will 2.1 have Swype? If not, how can I get Swype on my Mytouch (I've tried 3 different third-party apps online, none of which worked)?

Tried the Swype download that was posted on this site a week or so ago and it was only a demo. Swype is supposed to open up for everyone soon, just not sure when. Here is a link to sign up to get notified when it opens back up: Swype | Text Input for Screens

In the time being, you could give ShapeWriter: Android a shot, I just installed it the other day from the market place and it works perfect on my phone. The accuracy is a little less forgiving than Swype, but it's better than the standard keyboard layout.

The one I got from his link says it's version 1.25.16.5612.t100

It's been working perfect for me since I downloaded it when he posted it. Good stuff

Hmmm....maybe I just don't know what I'm doing lol. I don't see the app in the drawer and when I go to manage applications, it won't let me set it to default. How do I open it?

It won't be in the drawer, it's not an app. Go into Settings, Locale and Text, and select it from there. Then open something that uses the keyboard, long-press in the text box, and a menu will pop up with Input Type as an option. Select that and then select Swype.

Really? I can't imagine texting any other way now.. It's so quick and surprisingly accurate. I was using my iPod touch and always accidentally swipe when using the browser or typing in stuff.

i got my mytouch 2 months ago, it had swype already, I like it, its way faster than regular punch , can anyone tel me when 2.1 or 2.2 is coming, it will be so welcome, iv had lag issues and battery issues, the update will really make me feel like im getting my moneys worth, so far im a little disappointed with phone,

Ive tried shape writer and its not the same.....slower and I think swype is smarter. Ive herd no weird on 2.1, root it and you can get it though

It's quick but very inaccurate imo.
