Who is returning their evo due to battery?

I know, I know, not another battery thread but I was wondering if I'm the only one that has tried absolutely everything to tweak the battery life only to continue having low performance.
I only get about 6 hours with normal use, tried everything and I think my ego is going back. I called HTC and sprint and they suggested to exchange th phone or cancel the line if I'm not satisfied with the phone, too bad; this is a nice phone

I am VERY happy with mine. The battery life SUCKED the first few days... but so did my Hero. I have had the EVO since the 5th and battery life is much better. I usually unplug from my charger around 5:30 am and still have 50% when i get home from work around 7pm. Maybe just exchange it for another EVO and give that one a try. I will probably get another battery and charger from Seidio so i can be a little more careless with my usage during the day. Good luck

I get outstanding battery life after removing Sprint's bloatware. I was at 26% after 15 hours yesterday that included booting into recovery for quite some time to backup and flash as new ROM. I also had my phone awake the whole time I backed up and restored with Titanium Backup.

Battery life on the Evo is on par with my Motorola Q9c.
Meaning it's really pretty good. I can get through all day and well into the night with my normal usage.

Here is the problem with all these battery threads. Every phone gets HORRID battery life when they are new. This is due to the fact that probably 90% of phone users use the hell out of there phones when they first get them. As the days and weeks go on they will use the phone a little less and the battery will magically last longer due to the lower time of use.

This is because most users are in somewhat of a honey moon period and can't put the device down. Once you are "married" to it for a while, you won't touch it as much. (somewhat like actual relationships, not in all cases though )

What I am trying to say is that I think the battery issues are imagined and there is not a chance in hell I am returning this phone. It already gets better battery life than my Insinct or my Pre and I can easily get 14 hours, give or take a few either way, out of my phone. And on most days for me that is plenty.

Don't have battery issues. My iPhone 3GS didn't last any much longer than Evo. I take replaceable battery over bit longer battery life any day. One thing to keep in mind is if you look at iPhone it is not much more efficient the battery itself is larger than Evo. Tradeoff is it's not swappable.

The jury is still out I don't know if people are lying to themselves about the battery to justify the phone or what but I've tweaked every setting and not getting through a 12 hour day with moderate use. One problem is the phone does so much that of course people are constantly playing with and the thing is so big a extended battery would be to bulky. So I will at least give a few more days.

So true! At first I thought It was just the batteries were new and needs conditioning. But as time goes by, I saw a major improvement in battery life. Though I still do listen to MP3 most of the time I'm at work. I usually can get by with one single charge. I still have my extra battery with me though, just in-case.

I have more than doubled my battery life in last few days following some advice here. And have 2 spare battaries as well.

Return the greatest phone I ever had??? Too funny.

Just throwing in my $.02: I used it for a couple of days, then let the battery run down to zero. Then I let it charge up. I'm getting about a day out of my battery. I don't use all the services all the time, but I use them for a specific purpose when I want. This is easily the best phone I've ever had and I'm not even thinking about returning it.

Dude, I was starting to think you were having a defective battery. But 12 hours moderate use is not gonna happen on this phone. The way Android likes to keep apps open and how some apps use satellite gps, you'd be doing good if you got 8 hrs.

My battery is doing much better than it was the first few days. I'm now able to get a full day charge out of it without charging it mid day (so like unplug the phone at 7am and still have 40% around 10pm on a work day)

Battery life is fine, only hiccup I had was the Flickr account bug that caused 100% awake time, since removing Flickr account I get about 15 hours with moderate usage. Can't really expect much more than that. The phone will go close to 2 days with light usage.

I'm at 20hrs with 19% remaining. I did the hard reset as well as the charge on and off thing from HTC. I also did the CDMA auto prl thing as well. Before that I was getting just over 8hrs.

Maybe they tried to do to much with to little battery technology. I remember an interview with Dan Hesse explain how battery technology is just not keeping up with the smartphone technology, this interviews was about 6 months ago.

I'm really curious to know what kind of battery life the iphone 4 is going to get, should be interesting.

I'm getting anywhere from 20 to 38 hours out of mine depending on usage. Blows the TP I switched from away. While I have wireless/GPS/blah turned off most of the time they are there when I need them. Ultimately I need it as a phone, SMS device (IT and all management platforms alert through SMS) and email which it does MUCH better than the TP. The rest is just icing. It even fits better on my hip than the TP due to thickness (using the Platinum case/holster from BB). Obviously YMMV....

What CDMA trick?

type *#*#4636#*#* dont press call. Itll take you to a info screen. Press phone info i believe. it should say force close dont worry. after that screen scroll down to select preferred network type. If it says GSM switch it over to CDMA AUTO. If it says CDMA switch to gsm and then back to CDMA auto. Phone never sleeps cause its searching for a GSM signal.

I guess am a little spoiled coming from a BB which has much quicker charging and of course stellar battery life.

make sure you arent charging by USB its much much slower. Charge by wall outlet its super fast.

I had horrible battery life just like everyone else complaining of it. I did the flickr account fix and the cdma fix and my battery life has dramatically improved. I would even say it's at least as good as my old 3GS

i love this phone more and more every day
