I gotta say I'm very jealous of the cool weather widget on the Sense ui. I downloaded Weather Widget - Donate and from what I can see so far it isn't the same.

Do you think Android 2.0 will be able to mimic or create their own animations in the near future?

It's not a matter of Android 2.0, it's a matter of someone or a company being able to put forth the amount of effort that HTC did. That's the only obstacle, the time and skill necessary to create a very polished and well programmed.

Right now, Android's in it's infancy and individuals and small outlets really don't have the time necessary to put this much work into the app because they may not see good enough returns from sales. Hopefully Android will catch on in a big way and people will be able to justify putting more work and polish into apps, and bigger companies will develop cool apps as well.

Did you also download the plug-in for it? "Weather Widget Forecast" Install it and when you tap on weather from the flip clock it will open and animate just about exactly the same as Sense UI. In fact it pops up way faster than on the Sprint Hero I had.

yeah I downloaded the addon but I guess I won't know until we get some different weather . Right now I only have a clear moon and that doesn't do any animation besides fading in. The sun shine animation was cool and I'm going to doubt it'll be the same as Hero. I'll test it tomorrow and I really hope I'm wrong!! :)

I had a Sprint Hero for 3 weeks and returned for Droid. The animations seem identical. To test prior to returning Hero I bought this widget and placed them on the same home page. I could not tell any difference except that the Sense weather forecast took longer to open. The only advantage on the Sense weather forecast is you can add other cities and when you open the forecast portion you can flick your finger up or down to move from city to city. But the animations were the same.

there is definitely no clock flipping like there is in the Hero though (unless it flips everytime I don't look). Do you mind telling me if the same 8 animations from the Hero are available ? like snow, windy, rain, etc?

the hero clock does not flip like you think. it does the same as ours - just changes. i believe the only devices that flip with animations are htc windows mobile phones that have the htc custom ui (i cant remember what they call it).

Unfortunately I have not seen all of the weather animations yet. I live in so cal so I will never see snow and rain is not too often. Play with yours - go into settings and manually set it to areas where there is presently bad weather.

I dl BW also. My prob with them is that it takes up so much space on the screen. I like small things. The appeal 2 me for WW was the fact that I could have a small widget on my screen then tap on it and it got larger & did the animatioons, another tap, small again. Even the small widget on BW took up a large portion of the screen. I'm using home++ (the only home app that worked 4 me with the least amount of probs or lagging) and I use 4 screens. If I dl BW again I will have to go up to 5 screens or reorganize my already orderly layouts (carefully thought out layouts, yes, I may be a lil' anal). Plus BW offered other widgets I'll never use (silent, plane, gps, wifi). I have no use for them cuz I use the in-system widget for that.

Heck, I don't even use the clock widget because its so big. Why does anyone need a clock that big? I dl the smallest stuff I can find but I am open 2 suggestions\reccomendations if you can give me a good reason.

Just keep in mind I have a G1 (low on internal space) and I keep my widget use down to a minimum.

I'm also looking for a different default calendar. I use calwidget but when you add event it always pops you to the hideous preinstalled calendar. Are there any customizable or attractive apps that can override the default calendar?
