I Have just managed to flash cyanogenmod 5 on my freshly rooted magic. I just got it and have been using it on 2degrees NZ.
I'm kinda getting bored of the generic white status bar and would like to try another rom. What roms are most visually appealing? (big words) :p

I like the hero roms, but I have no idea what one i should use and getting them on looks too complicated for me anyway :D

I really want a rom with launcher2, not a 3rd party alternative.

I personally still use cursordroid's 1.5 + Sense UI ROM /w hotweiss' Kernel patch.

It's the SPEEDIEST ROM I've ever used. Yes faster than Cyanogen. Cursor's ROM pushes out 2.0-2.3 mflops on Linpack while I get 1.7-1.9 mflops on Cyanogen.

I can't wait for Rogers to quit dicking around on push out the ****ing Android 2.1 + Sense UI update and then having cursor and/or hotweiss do their thing on the ROMs. Hopefully they still remember the old Magic community and haven't completely forgotten us given that they now have Nexus Ones.

Most of the stable 2.1 roms that I've tried are based on cyan's and/or super-d or a combination. Add in a good launcher like ADW and nifty looking widgets and it starts to look a lot different. There's a black bar version by alan90 which is mostly cyan with small tweaks. You can drop a tweaked kernel on top of cyan and the others if you want to push it. After a while you might come back to a slightly blander setup to get the best performance and battery life. Mine runs way faster than the original stock rom and yet does a lot more, I just don't need the fluffy animations that the little magic isn't optimized for.
