Hello, I'm Max Power.
And I'm an Android FanBoy.

Now that we have that out of the way, if you don't have something worthwhile to contribute to this conversation...then don't.

After days of trying to accept my phones "flaws" I realized they aren't "flaws" they are serious defects.

No one is going to come to our rescue except for us and we need to make a lot of stink about what HTC is doing here.

They obviously sold a product that they HAD TO HAVE BEEN AWARE was not free of defects.

For the record, I am not talking about the battery here...It seems to me from my social circle and things I've read on this board and abroad that the battery is up to par with other smart phone batteries. I think MOST (I said "MOST") battery problems are due to people being unfamiliar with android devices and functions of the system (ATK, 4G, Widgets, etc).

What I am talking about are blatant DEFECTS:
1)Screen separation. If yours hasn't yet...it WILL!
2)Grounding Issues. I think this and #1 are due to the same problem.
3)Distorting Earpiece. Sounds like a tin can when turned up past 50% volume.
4)Camera Lens. After a week of "Babying" phone still all scratched up.
5)SD Card...Fixed. But still a sign of how poorly tested the EVO was.

I don't think they are going to be able to fix these defects through an OTA update:p So what are they going to do?

I encourage all of you to bombard HTC with constant and thorough complaints. They need to roll out the red carpet for us. They took our money and now they are responsible to provide the product we all were told we were getting. We'll see how they like it when they have burnt all the early adopters off in the future. No one will be willing to buy a phone until it has been on the market for a year and had all its "glitches" worked out.

Join HTC forums and publicly voice your opinion of their service and product. I called them today and they told me they were "unaware of any of these problems". I told them that's hard to believe considering that there is a topic on the HTC.com forums that they themselves operate with dozens of people complaining about "separating screens" and "tinny earpieces". I mean come on...they must think we have **** for brains.

I'm tired of this stuff. I'm tired of having to tell all my Apple Buddies that they were right. I beg to SPRINT and GOOGLE who are both not to be blamed for this (however, it's hard to imagine that they weren't aware of any of these problems) to PUT HTC on short notice. "FIX THIS EVO PROBLEM or ELSE".

Don't let HTC do this to us. You know that somewhere in an office right this moment these Executives are laughing at us. They think the can make crap, hype it up, and then sell it to us for big $$$.

I think NOT. What say you my EVO/INCREDIBLE family:thinking:

HTC = Hyping.Total.Crap.

And don't tell me to go buy an Iphone. I want the EVO but I want it done right:D

What I am talking about are blatant DEFECTS:
1)Screen separation. If yours hasn't yet...it WILL! Nothing on mine.. not even a smidge of it happening

2)Grounding Issues. I think this and #1 or from the same problem. Again, doesn't happen on mine.. I use it just fine no matter where I put it

3)Distorting Earpiece. Sounds like a tin can when up past 50% volume. - nope, mine sounds perfectly clear and good

4)Camera Lens. After a week of "Babying" phone still all scratched up. - still scratch free here... use the kickstand it is there!

5)SD Card...Fixed. But still a sign of how poorly tested the EVO was. - never had this issue from when I got the phone but could be because of the update

I do have the tin can earpiece issue. The others, not yet, and hopefully not ever. Thanks to the other problems people are having however, I will not be bringing this phone back simply for the ear piece. That said, its only tinny on the highest and maybe the second highest setting (tho I have only noticed it on the highest).

Once these phones are properly in stock, people are going to start bringing them back in droves. HTC will take notice when they are shipping as many replacement phones as new ones.

I too have none of these issues. I did read somewhere that there are 2 versions of the phone. A .002 and a .003 version. I believe that these issues (screen separation, grounding, etc..) are all part of the .003 version which also have a different battery door cover.

I'm also one of the lucky ones so far, but I do sympathize with everyone because my HTC Hero was a piece of shit design.

I am just wondering where you heard about the 002 and 003 thing and is that Hardware Version?

I was right, some people do have **** for brains.

I said, if you don't have something to add....then don't.

And the first responders all are "la diddy da". Listen up folks, my EVO was fine too. Then "IRK" everything starts falling apart.

I cannot wait for you all to get your heads out of the clouds and realize what is going on AROUND you. Maybe its not your phone now, but it might be in the near future. What are you going to do if you need to return and your "new" Evo has these defects.

There is something seriously wrong here and for most of you to be ignoring it is the PROBLEM ITSELF.

So if you are coming to this thread just to let me know how great your EVO is...get lost. I'm jealous...mine SUCKS!

If your phone doesn't have any issue, be grateful - but a quick trip to engadget will show you that there ARE issues and many of us do suffer from them - this is not a small number of 'complainers.'

I've confirmed the grounding issue on my phone. On my wife's phone the lower left corner has separated considerably - I can push it down and it moves quite a bit.

I too have a scratch on my camera lens already and I baby the phone. Kickstand is a great idea - I wonder though how long before that breaks too...

Paid good money for two of these phones and they both have issues common enough they are getting reported all over the place. Not acceptable.

If they still refuse to do anything about these problems file a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) Thats what there here for.

"FIX THIS EVO PROBLEM or ELSE".

If you ever want anyone to ever do anything for you, do not do the OR ELSE.
There is currently a laundry list of problems, yes, after 2 weeks of no problems, all my phones are doing the separation issue.

But there is nothing you can do, if you do. Only complain and wait. Nothing else will work. You only do the OR ELSE if you are pretty sure you want to do the OR ELSE.

To be compeletly honest, no company has ever done a product release in which the first round is perfect. Just call and complain.

I love my EVO and left an iphone for it. My EVO doesn't have any of these issues yet...that said, there is no reason to attack OP. Kind of pointless to argue "hasn't happened to me!!" when we all have had these phones for less than a month. I assumed everyone responding in this thread had read these articles already, but if not, these issues are being reported on tech sites.

Picked up mine on the first day and it is working like a dream machine. I have none of those so called "issues". If you have one, take it back within 30 days and get something else. Problems solved. Voting with your wallet will get you further than an email.

I am thinking about buying another for the family.

However, if you do have an Evo with the battery issue, you should think about changing your screen name to "MinPower". Heyooooo!

Sincerely,

I agree the earpiece does sound very "tinny" and the voice mail on speaker phone sounds very poor. I am holding out till I'm closer to the 30 day limit to see if the poor wifi and Wimax reception issue has hope of being fixed.

HTC has some quality issues with this phone from those listed to the flimsy battery cover that doesn't snap down flush. Coming from the iPhone the hardware side is a clearly not as good, but the ATT vs Sprint debate will keep me with Sprint, it just may not be with the Evo.

At least iPhones are well made, I never, repeat, never had problems with either my first gen iPhone or my 3G. Physically, they never had issues.

Really? Never ever? I'm pretty sure if you search 'iPhone 3G build quality', you'll find quite a few people who beg to differ.

Every single device has physical issues. There's no denying it. The iPhone is no exception.

RiverOfIce...I used that expression as something that Google or Sprint would say to HTC. Geesh! Read before you think please.

nkawal...Relax yourself. I'm sitting in the park in the Greatest City in the World enjoying the weather. I take all of this for what its worth. Just cannot sit by and continue to let the powers that be shovel crappy merch down our throats. It's Unsustainable.

I like Cooper 1010's idea.:D Next time HTC releases a faulty product that might be the crowd of "early adopters".
