right now i have a rooted 2.1 droid. and i was thinking about using rom manager to update to 2.2 but not sure if its safe. i have already backed up everything but just dont know. I just got my droid working the way i like it, but i would like to try froyo. So basically i want to know what you guys think, is it worth it, and if i dont like it do you think i would be able to back up to the earlier version i had with all my apps? also do i need to update my baseband if i go to 2.2?

If you have a rooted droid.... what's not safe about it? If you dont like the features, or whatever it may be, you can always go back to a setup you saved 10 minutes prior to flashing.

hmmm ok now im a bit confused, do or dont i have to wipe cache and re activate?

I wipe and clear cache to the following (others may do it differently)

1. Switching base. (from 2.1 to 2.2 or ESE81 to FRF57 or vice versa)
2. Switching completely different ROMS like Bugless Beast to CyanogenMOD or vice versa

- stuff like that

I dont wipe or clear cache when I..

1. Switching basebands
2. Switching Themes
3. Uploading a different Kernel.

- yup

I have a question for you sir, is there anything I can do so that my phone doesnt lag so much? or would you say its the kernel.

Are you running a 2.2 ROM? If so, who's 2.2 ROM are you running and what kernel are you using?

I don't know what apps you are running but I have heard a lot of people talking about Juice Defender and I installed it to see what the hype is all about. I noticed that my 2.2 ROM was instantly bogged down and it sped back up when I removed it.

I'm not saying it is an issue with the app...I may have used "incorrect" settings but my point is you can have one or two single apps that slow your phone down.

NexBeast 2.2 FRF57 - using P3Droids 1ghz for Froyo - I've had JuiceDefender installed since 2.1 and have had 1.90x on 2.2. Had about 2.15x with 2.1 on NexBeast v1.1 - The JuiceDefender update brought me to 1.0x =[.. but the lag started maybe 2 days after my update to Bugless Beast FRF57 2.2

edit- am starting to think that it may be the combination of JuiceDefender and a WorldCup app i have
